Experimental vehicle?

I see that the "British Commonwealth armoured fighting vehicles of World War II" list contains no Experimental vehicles, but surely the Tortoise would qualify as one such? Unfortunately, I don't know how to edit such a list. Dhatfield (talk) 06:51, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Comparison with T28 Super Heavy Tank article

I noticed there is a table on the T28 Super Heavy Tank page that compares that tank to the stats of the Tortoise. It seems odd that it's not present in both articles, so I would recommend that it be appended into the Tortoise article somewhere appropriate. 216.45.106.59 (talk) 00:13, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

It's barely appropriate in the T28 article. By my reading of wikipedia plocies on Original Research and Synthesis we should not be drawing detailed comparison between things where reliable sources do not. And that would need to be more than single reference, otherwise we would be creating undue detail on the matter. Books etc may mention that the Tortoise and T28 were built to a similar purpose and design, and that is mentioned, but there is no instance I am aware of, where the specific length and width or crew size and merits of both are debated. Alternative armament

Besides the 32 pounder, are there any historical records of the Tortoise mounting guns like the Ordnance QF 20 pounder and 120 mm L1A1? Wolcott (talk) 06:17, 17 October 2014 (UTC)

Not mentioned in any text I'm aware of. 6 pdr and 17 pdr were considered during development but having settled on 32-pdr they seem to have stuck with it. Have you heard tot he contrary? GraemeLeggett (talk) 11:49, 17 October 2014 (UTC)

There's an online game called World of Tanks in which the Tortoise can be upgraded with the aforementioned guns. I wanted to know if this is true because I can find no info on it, at least not on Google. Wolcott (talk) 14:12, 17 October 2014 (UTC)

WoT takes a lot of liberties with the history of tanks and armoured warfare to come up with an entertaining game. While the tanks in the game are rooted in reality - even if the reality was only sketch on a memo put in front of a committee - thereafter its a question of what gives variety and gameplay. Thanks for clearing that up. There are some obscure projects like the Tiger I mounting the 88mm gun from the Tiger II, yet nothing of it is mentioned in that article. That game sure left me with alot of questions. Wolcott (talk) 04:51, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
