Is this map a good one to add to the article? — mark 08:20, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)

yes it is Mark. I will put it in and you check and see if I got it right. — User:Zyzzy

OK, thanks. I repositioned the images and removed the following picture, if you don't mind: Image:STS113-708-15.jpg. It is very much the same as the other one, and the other one seems more clear. Correct me if you don't agree, of course. — mark 11:20, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Water power plant ? Or new element of 'Mubarak Pumping Station' ? In the middle of the desert ?! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.244.32.24 (talk) 22:13, 8 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Is there anybody able to provide some hints on etymology of "Toshka"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by DefaultLocale (talkcontribs) 04:38, 4 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

It is an informal name after the Wadi Toshka (or Tushka, a well-known Pleistocene archaeological site). The Wiley-Blackwell Encyclopedia of Human Evolution states under Wadi Tushka: "etym. Ar. wadi = valley, Tushka after nearby village [...] It is located 3.5 km/2 miles northwest of the abandoned village of Tushka on the western side of the Nile River; elevation is 140 m above sea level." — Ylai (talk) 21:58, 24 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Salinity

edit

In the "Geography" section, it is claimed that high rates of evaporation will lead the lake to become increasingly saline over time. There however needs clarification that water from lake Nasser contains some degree of salinity, the source of said increase in salinity. If however water from Lake Nasser contains no salinity to speak of then there would be no reason for any increase in salinity to occur, since water itself is continuously replenished, and this claim in the section would be unsourced nonsense.Ingebot (talk) 13:54, 8 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
