Album's release date

Since the album's release date has not yet been specified, I have found three possible contenders for it in Billboard magazines. Let me know what you think

1. September 23, where it appears as a new entry on the New LP/Tape Releases list (page 42)
2. September 30, where an ad for the album appears and states "Their debut album. On Columbia Records and Tapes." (page 5)
3. October 21, where it is marked as a new entry on the Top LPs & Tape list (page 170)

Of those three, the September 23rd release date appears to be the most accurate, but I am not completely certain if this date is correct. It could have been released the week prior or even earlier. It is unclear if the New LP/Tape Release list features songs released that week or if it simply documents relatively recent releases. The September 30th publication features an ad for the album. This seems to indicate that the album was already made available to the public at this point. We can also rule out October 21st, since the album would have needed to have been released earlier for it to chart on the Billboard 200. The RIAA website says that the album was released on September 27th, and this website has occasionally been used to provide information on a single or album's release date.[1] To my knowledge though, music was usually released on a Tuesday, but September 27th, 1978 fell on a Wednesday instead. In short, I cannot provide a definitive answer, but I hope that we can use this information to rule out other possibilities. Dobbyelf62 (talk) 23:36, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
