I would like to add the external link http://www.clubaxio.com. This site gives a lot of information on the Toyota Corolla Axio. I had already inserted this link under External Links on the page but user http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:RainbowOfLight deleted it. Any comments from other users? The user http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:RainbowOfLight just seems to vandalise Wikipedia. Have a look for his history on his talkpage and you can see a lot of arguments other users had with this guy. He deletes every comment you put on his talkpage. --Shorty23sin (talk) 05:50, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

First, User:RainbowOfLight is female... Secondly, the link you wish to add has no encyclopedic value. It's a club website with gallery, forums, and merchandise for sale. Please read WP:SPAM for more information as to why your spam would not be allowed on Wikipedia... - Adolphus79 (talk) 05:57, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm inclined to agree with RainbowOfLight and Adolphus79. Wikipedia is not a repository of links, and I don't see how this page is any more notable than countless other webpages. A link to the Toyota website, as it is the manufacturer, would be appropriate, but a fan site would not be. Also, there's no need to attack RainbowOfLight. Please, assume good faith. Toyota Built Corollas Vs. Kanto Auto Works

edit

Is there a definite way to tell which cars came from TMC Takaoka Plant and which come from KAW in Shizouka? I missed the AALA label on my car before I took delivery. I believe the VIN Plant Code digit for the TMC cars is J and the number 9 for Kanto produced units.Celliot2 (talk) 21:09, 23 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

J as the first character in the VIN means a Japanese company. The next character would be T for Toyota. Toyota often uses the first digit of the serial number (eg "5" in ZZE140-500003 or "2" in ZZE140-200003) to differentiate the production line. The build plate (not VIN) should also show a plant code (eg A21). Unfortunately, I only know a couple of the plant codes. Stepho-wrs (talk) 00:29, 24 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Is the build plate located on the drivers door jamb? I was referring to the J as the eleventh digit. i.e. JTDBL40E49JXXXXXX Celliot2 (talk) 01:46, 26 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Bias

The following was copied from a edit by User:Sahrin which was reverted. I believe the information is worthwhile to keep in the discussion page because it highlights the need to choose our sources carefully. Stepho-wrs (talk) 01:49, 10 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

A note on bias and unmentioned changes to the 10th generation of Corolla: Toronto Honda is used as a resource in the above material. Further, while the electronic steering system has been criticized, the actually handling has greatly improved over previous generations (largely due to the increase of 3 inches to the rear wheel track and new wheel and tire options). Likewise, the interior has changed but remains high quality and simple. <ref>http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/cars-trucks/2009-Toyota-Corolla/Interior/</ref> Changes to the seating position and the addition of a telescopic steering wheel are welcome changes as well. there isn't a 2008 model year in North America.

edit

There doesn't need to be an internationally understood model year range, as the section is dedicated towards North America. Now, If we were talking a table for all countries, that's entirely new territory. There also is no info in that section saying that there is a 2008 model year in North America. Get your facts straight before you make edits. I'll also add that I meant to say there was no 2008 model year in north america, not the US. Sorry for that. Since we've been undoing each other for the last few days, I will assume your comments are directed at me. Nobody every claimed that there was a 2008 model year E140 Corolla. The confusion arises from what '2008 Corolla' means to people from different countries. People from North America think it means a vehicle made from around Oct 2008 to around Oct 2009 (with some flexibility in the exact months). Whereas people from Europe, Asia, Australia (my country) and many others think it means a vehicle introduced during the 2008 calendar year. Unfortunately the term is ambiguous and it is therefore very important to clarify whether it is a US style model year or a calendar year. To make it even harder to understand, most non American countries don't even understand that the US style model years are different to calendar years. So we clarification of which year system we are using becomes even more critical for an international audience (i.e. both American and non American).
Originally the article said '2008' without clarification. To a non American this agrees perfectly with the E140's introduction in mid 2008. To an American it doesn't make sense because a 2008 model year implies an introduction in 2007. Bookster changed it to 2009 (without clarifying which system) to agree with his interpretation (2009 model year means it was introduced in mid 2008 calendar year). I changed it back to 2008 but also made it unambiguous by putting 'Calendar years' in the table heading. Bookster then changed it to 2009 again but left my 'Calendar years' - making it factually wrong. I changed it back to 2008 again, making it factually correct. Bookster then changed it 2009 and also changed the table heading to 'Model years', keeping it both factually correct and unambiguous.
I could argue that it is confusing to have some dates in this international article in calendar years and some in model years. To non American readers this gets very confusing because the US model year system is not within our experience. However, since the table is now clearly marked as 'Model years', I am willing to leave it at that. To make it unambiguous and as clear as possible to a global audience is my main goal here.
One final bit of confusion though is the end date for the 2AZ-FE engine. Originally it said 2008-2009. I took that to mean Oct 2008 to Oct 2009 (with some flexibility of exact months), although many people might have taken it to mean Oct 2008 to Oct 2010 (ie about 2 years). Now we have 2009 model year to 2010 model year, which I take to mean Oct 2008 to Oct 2010 (with flexibility of exact months). Does anybody have the start and end dates as month and year? Thanks.  Stepho  talk  06:31, 29 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Toyota Corolla (E140) narrow-body and wide-body

edit

Toyota Corolla (E140) narrow-body is sold in Japan and exported to right-hand-drive countries and the wide-body is sold in Asia and North America. --Lamborghinimaster (talk) 10:10, 23 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Which RHD countries? We will need references to back this up. Do you include Australia and the UK (which are RHD) for the narrow body?  Stepho  talk  11:27, 23 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
