Merge discussion
editThis article contains incomplete and unreferenced information that does not support a generalized view in design of roadside protection. I recommend that this article be removed or portions merged into the road stub for Traffic barrier.Ivan0310 (talk) 20:15, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

- I agree, I believe all three of these articles/sections should be pulled out into one article which incorporates and properly cites all necessary information. I think the one reason I prefer the article on Traffic barrier to this one is that it does not cite random histories and events or make references to specific types of barriers in a specific country. While I am American, I tried to keep my edits to the article on Traffic barrier as general as possible. I would gladly take help in insuring that I have done that in collaborating on a more inclusive article with proper citations.Ivan0310 (talk) 21:22, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

editIt is painfully obvious that all references refer to the TxDOT Roadway Design Manual. At current time, this is the only publicly, easily accessed reference or guide on this topic that I could find. When fancy end treatments fail.
editPhotos of a crash that happened Sept. 2010 http://www.camaroz28.com/forums/showthread.php?t=775818 A Chevrolet Suburban hit the end of a steel guard rail at high speed. The rail penetrated the front of the vehicle, passing to the right of the engine, completely through the vehicle and out through the left rear door window. Armco barriers
editJust about every mention of Armco barrier on Wikipedia is in an auto-racing article (see what links to Armco barrier). A reason for that Armco a racetrack sponsor? Or these barriers aren't notable unless someone crashes into them? Wbm1058 (talk) 21:02, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

- Odd that Armco barrier redirects here. For a while, I was unsure whether they were made from concrete, steel, or something else. Now, it appears to me that they are guard rails and not Jersey barriers. Oh, yeah;) I just created that redirect today, which is the day I learned that there was such a thing. Because the lede implied that an armco barrier was a synonym for the generic term traffic barrier, rather than a specific type of traffic barrier. – Wbm1058 (talk) 22:59, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
- Armco can be found around public roads and racing circuits, in the UK. It's definitely not a synonym, rather a specific type/shape of barrier. Guinness2702 (talk) 16:47, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
