Possible New Section for Strategy Games

edit

I think there needs to be a new section for games that are not driving games and not realistic railroad operation games but the strategy games. What are your thoughts?

Can a better screenshot be found to replace the one at the top of the article, where the converging rails look very poor? I think later versions of BVE do junctions much better. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by John259 (talkcontribs) .

Do you have a later version of BVE yourself? If so would you be able to take a screenshot at a higher resolution and upload it?

professional

It might be worth considering professional train sims as well eg http://www.railway-technology.com/contractors/professional/eads/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by Carrolljon (talkcontribs) 00:28, 15 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

train simulation for children?

edit

What train simulators offer a "totally easy" mode for young kids to play with trains on tracks, whether realistic or cartoonish? I recently purchased Rail Simulator for a 5 year old uttery crazy about trains, and he's quite frustrated with the reality of reality. Gotta obey speed limits? You must brake when rolling down a hill so sleight that it can't be seen? etc. It'd be nice to have a "really really easy mode" to use until he knows how to read.

It'd be nice to find something that is kid compatabile, but is also highly detailed and realistic looking (Rail Simulator really hits this mark) with lots of interesting scenery, simplified down to fast, slow, stop, change switches (Rail Simulator does this) and but also auto speed control, "force inclined terrain to be treated as flat by simulation", and with major forgiveness for mistakes like preventing derails due to bad track switch positions (which Rail Simulator doesn't do).

I see most of the "Thomas" computer games have nothing to do with trains on tracks at all but are just matching and puzzle games with characters from the show scattered around. That's not what I am looking for. DMahalko (talk) 03:24, 11 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ummm this is the talk page for discussing improvements to the Wikipedia article Train simulator. If you want to ask questions about train simulators, might I suggest you consult one of the mainy train simulation forums vailable on the web. Jezhotwells (talk) 09:05, 11 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
My question is related to this article. The article is effectively a global reference to all existing train simulation software of ANY type. Any such high-realism rail simulations being capable of use by small children should also included and mentioned in this article. DMahalko (talk) 07:54, 14 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
I'll keep my eyes peeled. Marasmusine (talk) 09:04, 14 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Industrial

edit

The section on industrial simulators needs third-party references. If the only verification of the products mentioned come from their respective official pages/brochures, then they shouldn't be mentioned. Marasmusine (talk) 09:04, 14 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I have added secondary RS Jezhotwells (talk) 15:16, 14 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
That's a good start, thanks. Marasmusine (talk) 15:37, 14 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Overcoverage of "Trainz"

edit

It seems that this article talks about all of the "Trainz" series' pluses and basically talks down about all other train simulators; I have therefore placed an "overcoverage" tag on this article as I feel that there is an unfair amount of detail put into the Trainz series as opposed to the other simulators listed on this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Illini407 (talkcontribs) 23:07, 21 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request its removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.
