Kurt Kawohl, author of Transcendentalism - A New Revelation receives letter of endorsement from President George W. Bush.

Kurt Kawohl, author of Transcendentalism - A New Revelation sent a letter to the Office of Homeland Security outlining his plan as to how Transcendentalism, which stands for religious rationality can aid in quelling terrorism.

Kurt stated:

In this 21st Century the Age of Technology, we are still plagued by religious beliefs that are contributing causes toward terrorism, killings and wars between nations. Transcendentalism was revived on 9-11-01 and will make tedious efforts to bring religious rationality into play.

In New England in the 19th-century Transcendentalists were known as writers and philosophers who adhered to an idealistic system of thought based on a belief in the essential unity of all creation, the innate goodness of man, and the supremacy of insight over logic and experience for the revelation of the deepest truths. The term Transcendentalism was derived from the German philosopher Immanuel Kant (1724-1804) who considered it a philosophy which holds that reasoning is the key to understanding reality and called "all knowledge transcendental which is concerned not with objects but with our mode of knowing objects?. Ralph Waldo Emerson?s interpretation of Transcendentalism was that it was a transcendental character or quality, a philosophy which stressed intuition and spirituality.

The Wikipedia Encyclopedia describes Transcendentalism as a conglomeration of similar, but diverse ideas about literature, religion, culture and philosophy. Transcendentalism itself is difficult to define concisely, due to the diverse expressions of those involved in the movement. However, the main tenet of transcendentalists is the desire to go beyond (transcend) the prevailing literature and philosophies of the masses in order to improve society. One of the reasons that transcendentalism spans so many disciplines is due to this strength of this desire amongst those involved.

Your endorsement of Transcendentalism in this 21st Century will greatly aid in bringing religious rationality to our country. The USA has always led the world with its innovations. We can only hope that this rationality will quickly spread to other nations.

Dear Reverend Kawohl:

Thank you for your letter about issues affecting our national security and the people who protect our Nation. I appreciate hearing your views and welcome your suggestions.

Today, the United States faces grave new dangers. The threats to our Nation have changed, and we are now engaged in a war that is unlike any other in our history. Our country is leading a global coalition of more than 90 nations to confront terrorism, and we are making progress through diplomacy, the disruption of terrorist finances, and where necessary, military action. As we work to defend freedom, secure our homeland, and extend peace and opportunity to people around the world, it is critical that our military remain strong, capable, and modern.

My highest priority is protecting the American people, and the current threats to our country demand that this year?s budget lay the foundation for a sustained, long-term investment in our Nation?s security. Currently, there are about 300,000 American troops deployed and forward-stationed around the world, and it is vital that they receive the best training, equipment, and resources. This year?s budget also follows through on our commitments to improve the quality of life for our soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, and their families through increased pay and improved housing.

Our military is also changing to meet new challenges, and we must facilitate this transformation. Over the past year, we have revamped our military strategy, aligning the structure of our forces and the priorities of our budget accordingly. By funding new technologies, developing innovative war-fighting concepts, and investing in improved intelligence and analysis capabilities, we are creating the military of the future. As Commander in Chief, I am proud of the men, women, and families who devote their lives to our Armed Forces. These immensely brave Americans help protect the ideals that make our Nation strong, and they deserve our thanks and full support. Vicki Rosenzweig The letter was sent to the Office of Homeland Security requesting endorsement of Transcendentalism in order to help quell terrorism. I assume that this is as close to an endorsement as anyone can expect.

An actual endorsement would have mentioned Transcendentalism, but you're not likely to get that from Bush, whose specific Christian beliefs have been well-publicized. What you got was "Thank you for writing, here's my position on this issue, thanks again for writing" with no actual mention of what you said in your letter. Vicki Rosenzweig
