War for Cybertron - Expand and Add Legacy
editShould the "War for Cybertron" years be expanded from 2019 - 2021, and then a new category be added for the 2022 series, Generations Legacy? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.237.4.249 (talk) 19:44, 15 March 2022 (UTC)
Other Japanese series
editOkay. Robots in Disguise was added. Can the other Japanese television series be added (Victory, Zone, etc.)? Allen (talk) 11:14, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
No mention of starting year
editNeither the lead section or the infobox contain any information on when this toyline actually started. You have to scroll down to the section about Transformers: G1 to find a mention that it started in 1984. The lead section does mention that a separate toyline, Gobots, started in 1983. This looks kind of strange. JIP | Talk 19:39, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
Would it have taken less time to just add it rather than post about here it? Mathewignash (talk) 23:26, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
What toy models were created first. Starscream F15 Eagle, Prowl, Smokescreen and Bluestreek Nissan 280ZX. This is omited from the origin. The year you mentioned is the origin og this series. Don Andretti (talk) 14:32, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

Italicized title
editShould the title of this article be italicized? Other sci-fi franchises on Wikipedia such as Star Trek, Predator, and Alien have articles with italicized titles. Transphasic (talk) 21:00, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
- That's a good point. This article is about the overall franchise, which is equally known for both toys (no: Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Titles#Neither) and media (yes: Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Titles#Italics). Obviously, the other articles you've mentioned are by far primarily about media and only a little bit about products, but I don't know if that has any bearing at all. But I would guess that maybe it should be italicized, because it includes media. I'll ask around on IRC. — Smuckola (Email) (Talk) 12:14, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
- So yes or no? —User 000 name 04:28, 5 May 2016 (UTC)
Expansion
editThis articles sections for IDW Publishing, the "Movie-verse" and Prime must be expanded and/or updated. The sections for Universe, Hunt for the Decepticons, and Cyber Missions should be deleted. I have also noticed that the entirety of Wikipedia (!) contains little mention of the roles of characters after the The Transformers Revelation arc. Finally articles for Prowl, Beachcomber, Warpath and Kup should (actually MUST) be added to Wikipedia. 71.126.124.35 (talk) 15:48, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

Transformers cleanup
editOrganization of articles related to Transformers apparently could use some work. If this is not sorted out, it is likely that material will be piece-meal deleted by AfD participants over time. editWhy is it omited in the Transformers story there origin? Starscream was a F15 eagle. Smokescreen, Bluestreek and Prowl were Nissan 280ZX. These characters were the toys that the cartoon came from. Don Andretti (talk) 16:41, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

Merger, split and reorganisation discussion (August 2018)
editYou see both Transformers and Transformers (toy line) articles are large but somewhat unorganised? Well then, it's time to reorganise them, I guess?
First, merge Transformers (toy line) into Transformers, and then spin off each era and/or universe (Like G1, RID 2001, Unicron Trilogy, live-action films, and the so-called Aligned Continuity) into new articles by splitting the article. (Of course, if an era is not so significant to have an article, it can stay in the main Transformers article.) JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 17:33, 8 August 2018 (UTC)
- Is Transformers sufficiently notable for that level of coverage? Transformers has several of its own Wiki/Wikia and Wikipedia shoul;d not be attempting to duplicate that. Simplify certainly but different eras do not deserve their own articles.
- Each animated series could have its own article like any TV series might. Perhaps toylines related to each series could get (very) limited coverage there? --Falcadore (talk) 21:48, 9 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Falcadore: There already are the articles about Generation 1 and the live-action film series here in the English Wikipedia, so the other major continuities like the Unicron Trilogy and the so-called Aligned Continuity can have own main article, I think.
- Also, keep in mind that Hasbro (the company behind Transformers) is a toy company, after all. (And so does Takara, which developed two toy lines that served as the basis of Transformers.) JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 15:51, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
- The six big screen movies are independantly notable in the same way that the Mortal Kombat (film) is independantly noteable from the video games series that spawned it. Stepping across major lines of entertainment like from toys to comics, books, TV series, video games and cinema provides that notability that is independant from the toyline. Barbie is not subdivided into era articles despite its greater fame and longevity. Star Wars figures are only split into Kenner and Hasbro. Hot Wheels and Matchbox and Majorette and Micro Machines are all single articles for toylines and are not subdivided into eras. Subdividing a Transformers toyline can only lead to substantial over-writing for the subject. Wikipedia should not seek to duplicate the efforts of external Wikias. --Falcadore (talk) 02:00, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
- Okay. How would you reorganise Transformers and its related articles? Do you have an outline? JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 14:53, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
- I already did. Each cartoon series and movie would have their own article. Associated toylines covered in those articles under merchandising. Major characters already have their own articles. This the central article talks about the franchise as a whole. Broad brush structure. History of the brand. Components of the brand - toys and their development, cartoon series, comic books, movies, fandom, spin-offs knock-offs and influences it has had elsewhere in pop culture. Next-to-no description of transformers fiction - that belongs in articles about cartoons or movies etc. If this article is too big then move the content into sub-articles and make this one smaller. --Falcadore (talk) 10:15, 22 August 2018 (UTC)

Aligned Universe (2010–present)
editDespite being set by a brand bible of 354 pages titled "The Binder of Revelation", the video games, novels and television series notably contradicted with each other due to creative differences, miscommunications, constant team changes, and Aaron Archer being replaced with a different person that had no knowledge of the brand bible.
This should honestly be taken out. Besides being subjective (even if it's true), there's no source attached for any of it, also Aaron Archer resigned (not replaced) so what does that have to do with anything other then to make it seem like it was intentionally sabotaged. Also while he resigned in 2013 he helped with production of RID15 up until its release so a fat lot of good it did helping with those contradictions, he was there for the majority of it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.74.105.129 (talk) 20:36, 31 May 2019 (UTC)

Consider removing GoBots material
editWhile GoBots is considered linked to Transformers fiction as of Hasbro's acquisition of Tonka, it's still called GoBots for a reason. For the same token, Predator material isn't listed on the Alien page despite their shared universe and the rights of both franchises being held by Fox. GoBots isn't Transformers. This will probably fall on deaf ears, but it needed to be said. JohnStartop (talk) 14:25, 8 October 2021 (UTC)

Original work is actually Challenge Of The Gobots by Tonka and Bandai. Hasbro was inspired by that franchise and took many content from it and refurbished to it their own such as designs, storylines, names etc before they acquired some rights legally. please fix for all transformers wiki before legal issue arises because you are misleading people/not being entirely truthful. 27.252.50.120 (talk) 15:23, 10 June 2020 (UTC)
