editPlease provide a full reference for the Victor Barry claim. What show(s), how often, anyone else? Lets be clear about it - one host, of one show, of one local radio station is hardly notable - it's trivial. Djegan (talk) 13:31, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
Proposals for making this article less shit
edit1. Remove the bits clearly written by the mother of a TY student who was heavily involved in organising TY activities:
It is also said that if students opt to do TY then their Leaving Certificate results could increase. It also gives students previously unknown confidence within themselves.
2. Include testimonials from students who studied Japanese/first aid/flower arranging explaining how much of the course they can recall
3. Discussion of how TY is a lucky break for the government which would otherwise be faced with thousands of under-18-year-olds attending university and getting regularly and overtly drunk and pissed up on booze

Well, I've rewritten some parts of this article and I think it's more balanced now. Tails3333 (talk) 22:25, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
Problem areas
editLede
editThe passage Amongst students, the Transition Year programme is frequently referred to as a "doss", meaning it does not demand much work and students can relax during it is unsourced and the passage Many consider it to be a break from the pressure of examinations, which it is looks like WP:OR or MOS:OPED.
Available subjects
editUnsourced - would the Department have it listed on their page? Also, the comment Below are the list of subjects available to Transition Year students, though most schools only offer a limited number. doesn't cite a source.
Advantages of Transition Year
editThe passage Transition Year could be considered to be a year for maturity and development. Activities such as work experience, mountain climbing, and mini-company encourage growth and teamwork within the student body. looks like WP:OR, MOS:OPED.Autarch (talk) 19:05, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
I added a few references to the article.Tails3333 (talk) 19:16, 13 February 2013 (UTC)
