Merge request

Hah, what about Cisleithania? That article should be also merged into Austrian Empire!?? Cisleithania was a name of the Austrian part (The Kingdoms and States represented in the Imperial Council) of Austria-Hungary. Transleithania was an term for the Hungarian part (Lands of the Crown of St. Stephen represented by Hungary) of Austria-Hungary. This article shouldn't be merged into Kingdom of Hungary.

The map of Austria-Hungary is showing Split as being the capital city of the Kindom of Dalmatia which is incorrect. The administrative centre and the largest city in Dalmatia from 1420 to 1918 was in fact Zadar.Luce102 (talk) 10:30, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

It is alarming that some experienced editors don't know a basic rule like WP:COMMONNAME: Wikipedia does not necessarily use the subject's "official" name as an article title; it prefers to use the name that is most frequently used to refer to the subject in English-language reliable sources. North Korea, Byzantine Empire or the Carolingian Empire were not official names either. So the IP editor (likely the banned user Iaaasi) also agrees that the two names "Transleithania" and the "Lands of the Crown of Saint Stephen" refer to the very same thing. On the other hand, he argues that the other should be merged to this one, instead. We can discuss this, too, but it should be clear that we do not need both articles. PS: The presented GB results are misleading, as "Lands of the Crown of Saint Stephen" has many equivalent variants, like "Lands of the Holy Apostolic Crown of Saint Stephen", "Lands of the Holy Apostolic Crown of St. Stephen", "Lands of the Hungarian Holy Crown of Saint Stephen", "Lands of the Holy Crown of Saint Stephen", "Lands of the Crown of Stephen", "Lands of the Hungarian Crown", "Lands of the Holy Hungarian Crown", " Lands Ruled by the Hungarian Crown", "Lands under the Holy Hungarian Crown", "The Lands of St. Stephen's Crown", "Lands of St Stephen", etc. KœrteFa {ταλκ} 10:51, 3 September 2013 (UTC)

User:Koertefa, revealing my possible identity is a stalinist act (let's eliminate who doesn't share our POV, it doesn't matter that our arguments are weaker). Even considering the incidence of all the variants listed above, I don't think that the score surpasses 3.870. Kingdom of Hungary (1867–1918) is also an option, but Transleithania could be preferred for matching the Austrian equilvalent Cisleithania 79.117.185.204 (talk) 11:42, 3 September 2013 (UTC)

Support. Those are two names for the same thing. Both articles agree that Transleithania was just unofficial name for the Lands of the Crown of Saint Stephen (Transleithania was an unofficial term...). Articles also overlap a much. Vanjagenije (talk) 11:21, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

• Since we have a clear consensus in favor of merging, I'm going to perform the merge under the title "Lands of the Crown of Saint Stephen". We can discuss the name of the article in a separate process, but as I see, we have consensus to merge. Even the IP user who voted oppose actually supports the merge, but under different title.
