The result of the move request was: Move. From the evidence it appears "Transilvania University of Brașov" is the more common name. Cúchullain t/c 13:37, 4 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

And the common name for this institution is "Transilvania" University. More ref: Transilvania University of Brasov - Evaluation Report from the European University Association; European Commission-Enterprise Europe Network; European Sustainable Energy Innovation Alliance; studenterasmus.eu; university-directory.eu; ECTNA; moveonnet.eu; Bulletin published by Transilvania University Press, etc.. On Google.com: there are about 305,000 results for "Transilvania University of Brasov" and about 52,700 results for "Transylvania University of Brasov"; Thanks, Rgvis (talk) 05:04, 5 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Interesting... I get similar Google web search results [2] [3] (your results may vary) but without restricting my search to English pages (only because I can't see how to do that with the latest Google user interface). So the question is, how many of these pages are in English? Because the others don't count for much. Another interesting thing is, there are also far more hits with the "i" spelling when searching for the "y" than vice versa. This evidence then does support the move, but not as well as I'd like and the only other contribution so far is an oppose vote, on valid grounds (the original move rationale was supported by neither policy nor evidence) but now partly at least answered. The other argument against the move is consistency with the territory name (again in English of course), which is not a prime consideration so far as I can see, and no policy or guideline is quoted to support it. But can't we get a better consensus than that? Relisting. Andrewa (talk) 17:05, 21 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per nom, supported by search results, and similar pages such as Gazeta de Transilvania. Tiggerjay (talk) 21:02, 28 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Support: Necrothesp makes the point that the common name in English for the territory is Transylvania, but that is completely irrelevant. We are not discussing the name of the territory. We are discussing the name of the university, and the world (and Wikipedia) has numerous similar examples where the English name of a territory and a university differ (and may even, in some cases, be derived from different languages). A recent example is in Puducherry in India, where the territory changed its name a few years ago (and Wikipedia has now accepted that the new name is the common form in English). The university, however, for whatever reason, has decided to stick with Pondicherry University, and that is where the Wikipedia article on the university remains.
