editTravers Island is not within the limits of New York City (it is in neighboring New Rochelle) and thus should be taken out of the Islands of New York City category. Peter Greenberg (talk) 03:10, 20 January 2012 (UTC)
It would be nice to include some mention of the fabled running track, as I recall a 5-lane, 5 laps to the mile dirt oval. One of the references to this article mention a track meet in the early days, with heights surrounding the track where spectators sat on the grass. I remember this vividly as a competitor on this very track in 1965, in the one mile run.
