Treaty of Ferhat Pasha → Treaty of Istanbul (1590) – per WP:COMMONNAME & WP:USEENGLISH & WP:POVTITLE
Treaty of Constantinople (1590) & Peace of Istanbul (1590) are also acceptable.
Treaty of Ferhat Pasha is not common name, and it's not suitable per Wikipedia:Neutral point of view#Naming.
- Treaty of Ferhat Pasha 2, 1 of 2 was delivered from Wikipedia.
- 1590 "Treaty of Constantinople" -Llc 17 -
- 1590 "Treaty of Istanbul" -Llc 14 -
- 1590 "Peace of Istanbul" -Llc 8 -
- 1590 "Peace of Constantinople" -Llc 10, but most of them are other Peace.
- 1590 "Nowruz Peace" -Llc 1

- Oppose The name for this treaty in Turkish is Ferhat Pasha antlaşması. Since it was signed in İstanbul sometimes the name İstanbul is also used. But it is an unfortunate choice. Because in Wikipedia there are no less than 8 treaties named İstanbul up to now (1479, 1533, 1700, 1724, 1736, 1832, 1897, 1913) and there are other treaties of İstanbul which are not yet created in Wikipedia. In order to prevent confusion over the name Treaty of Ferhat Pasha seems better than Treaty of İstanbul. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 07:46, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- Here is not Turkish Wikipedia. So we must chose titles by the historiography written in English language. Ferhad Pahsa was the representative of the Ottoman Empire. Why we ignore Safavid side ? According to WP:NPOV and WP:POVTITLE, we must avoid such title as possible as we can. If this name were overwhelmingly common name of this event, maybe we could have chosen it. But it's very clear that the treaty of Ferhat Pasha is not common name of this event. -- Takabeg (talk) 07:56, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- Interesting , but the Persian Wikipedia also links (maybe post hoc) this treaty to Ferhad Pasha عهدنامه فرهاد پاشا.Cpt.schoener (talk) 01:31, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

- Yes. Very interesting. Persian: عهدنامه فرهاد پاشا, 'Ahdname-ye Ferhad Pasha is used in Persian Wikipedia. The article was created on January 27, 2011 (۲۷ ژانویهٔ ۲۰۱۱). Maybe that was translated from other language wikipedias. I cannot find (Persian: عهدنامه فرهاد پاشا) in google books. See "عهدنامه فرهاد پاشا". sefir (0) result. In normal google search, only 7 results. Thank you. -- Takabeg (talk) 01:47, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
- Support. According to WP:USEENGLISH "the title of an article should generally use the version of the name of the subject which is most common in the English language". Takabeg explained that Treaty of Istanbul is most common in the English language. Nedim Ardoğa is right that there are many other treaties of Istanbul. But that only means we should follow the request of WP:Disambiguation. In case of Treaty of Istanbul there is no primary topic. Therefore Takabeg was right when he proposed the name Treaty of Istanbul (1590) which should be included in the disambiguation page Treaty of İstanbul. The names of this treaty on wikipedias on other languages are irrelevant. Although I do not have the same opinion about this proposal I am grateful to Nedim Ardoğa for writing this article which is short, but explains the topic very well. --Antidiskriminator (talk) 08:33, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
