I'm a bit surprised that France wasn't involved. If France didn't sign this treaty, and Prussia didn't sign the Treaty of Paris (the latter of which I've always understood to be the case), then how did France and Prussia make peace with one another? Were they not officially at war with each other? I know they definitely fought battles against one another, as at Rossbach. john k (talk) 17:11, 17 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
My understanding is that France and Prussia were never at war, even though their troops did in fact do battle with each other over the course of the war. I don't have a cite for that and am open to being corrected, though. Binabik80 (talk) 14:42, 2 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
This article is supposed to be about the Treaty of Hubertusberg

This article appears to have been written under the belief that it would actually be titled "Short summary of the Seven Years' War in Europe and North America". Only the first and last paragraphs actually deal with the Treaty of Hubertusberg, and even those still give just about equal weight also to the Treaty of Paris (1763). (Until I just corrected it, the opening sentence even claimed that the Treaty of Hubertusberg played a role in ending the French and Indian War as well as the Seven Years' War.) While it's probably true that there's not much to write about a treaty whose provisions amounted to status quo ante bellum, there's still more than the article at present provides. The explanation of the context of the treaty needs to not be a full summary of the entire war (including the war between Britain and France), but rather needs to concentrate on what specific changes in situation led to both sides being willing to accept a peace. (For Prussia: the withdrawal of British support; worries about Catherine the Great bringing Russia back into the war. For Austria, I'm assuming it was fiscal strain and general war weariness.) An explanation of the specific terms of the treaty can detail which items of conflict were returned to status quo ante by being explicitly confirmed, and which if any were simply not mentioned. There should also be a (brief) discussion of the aftermath of the settlement: the Russo-Prussian alliance of 1764; the deterioration of Anglo-Prussian relations, leaving Britain isolated during the American Revolutionary War; and the War of Bavarian Succession in the 1770s.
