The result of the move request was: WITHDRAWN - MOS violation. Rentier (talk) 10:29, 17 February 2018 (UTC)
Tree puzzle → TREE-PUZZLE – TREE-PUZZLE is the actual name of the software; I cannot do it myself, because TREE-PUZZLE appears to be blacklisted. Rentier (talk) 21:37, 16 February 2018 (UTC)

- @Rentier: Or is it stylization? Anthony Appleyard (talk) 22:30, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Anthony Appleyard: Well, it DOES refer to the title in that sense on the main website. ToThAc (talk) 22:41, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Anthony Appleyard: The original paper introducing the program calls it TREE-PUZZLE. In the literature, it is referred to as TREE-PUZZLE (most common), tree-puzzle, or Tree-Puzzle (least common). All oficial materials and documentation consistently call it TREE-PUZZLE. Not sure how to tell whether it is a stylization? And what would it be a stylization of - probably not of "Tree puzzle" since only Wikipedia calls is that. Rentier (talk) 23:28, 16 February 2018 (UTC)

- Oppose CAPS per WP:MOSTM and WP:CAPS. As to capitalization "tree puzzle" in GBooks indicates Tree Puzzle as a proper noun. But is "(Strimmer and von Haeseler, 1996)" the same software as in the article? In ictu oculi (talk) 23:22, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
- @In ictu oculi: I was under impression that TREE-PUZZLE was a proper name and thus allowed by the guidelines. Was I wrong? Tree Puzzle is an algorithm used by the TREE-PUZZLE software package - but they are not the same. Rentier (talk) 23:32, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, if that's the case the distinction needs to be sourced and in the article. But even if it was proper name our MOS rules would rule it out. We only use caps for acronyms. In ictu oculi (talk) 23:37, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. How about Tree-puzzle, then? It is used in the literature, though not as commonly as the fully capitalized form. Tree puzzle without hyphen doesn't really work unless we want Wikipedia to call it a name not used anywhere else. Rentier (talk) 23:45, 16 February 2018 (UTC)

- Oppose move as a blatant violation of WP:MOSTM and WP:CAPS. I would probably support Tree-Puzzle or similar. ONR (talk) 09:41, 17 February 2018 (UTC)

Move to tree-puzzle or Tree-Puzzle
editThanks for the input - I now see that the full-cap title was inappropriate for Wikipedia. I believe a move to tree-puzzle or Tree-Puzzle would be uncontroversial - or should I start another request? Rentier (talk) 10:34, 17 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Rentier: I think Tree-Puzzle is sufficient for now. ToThAc (talk) 20:14, 17 February 2018 (UTC)
