- I see problems with "Such a railway would represent a significant engineering task", which over-inflates things. The article should be presenting the engineering challenge in a subdued manner that doesn't sound like it's coming from a PR piece. SounderBruce 08:06, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
- I realise this is a contentious issue in South America. I really didn't expect to find an argument about this edit. It's pretty neutral and interesting stuff to me, engineering difficulties, and totally relevant to an engineering task. The penninsula is world famous for its aquifers. Difficulties they pose are of interest. As for the removed content about freight and passengers, my apology, it was in the last reference in the Spanish language. However, the mention of Ferrosur, I cannot find it in any of the articles. - I'll have to ask you to add a reference to that in the article to qualify DYK. I haven't got the time right now to go over this point about "significant". I am not familiar with use of the word "significant" to mean anything other than "notable". I am assuming that in the USA it has this "suggestive" meaning or you have taken it from online definitions. To me, the fact the word can be used that way does not extend the definition of "notable" at all. A covert signal is "notable" in every sense of the word without adding definition to the word "notable". Cost
editI'm having trouble reconcling these two sources for cost:

The first says 321 billion pesos. The second says cost has increased from the original 140 billion and is now 200 billion.
I'm not sure on the wording, but I think the higher figure might include operating and maintenance for 30 years (costos de inversión en obra, equipamiento, reinversión en materiales rodantes y costos de operación y mantenimiento para 30 años), which would make a huge difference and would account for the much higher number. Physical connection

- Tren Maya runs on the old FCM right-of-way as far as Pakal-Ná. South of that the tracks are abandoned. There are plans to extend the new tracks on the old right-of-way and eventually connect Tren Maya with the new Tren Interoceánico but no work has started. GA-RT-22 (talk) 03:44, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
