Alexa
editThe Alexa ranking of this site (36,548) falls short of 10,000, but with 1,160,000 Google hits I'm convinced it is just notable enough. Punkmorten 06:35, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
Catch Phrase
editI don't dispute that this blog is notable enough to merit an entry, however, the assertion of the article that "The motto of the site is pink is the new blog'" and since the blog's recent insurgence of popularity, this saying has also become popular, with celebrities and blog fans alike saying things such as 'purple is the new pink' and 'old is the new new.'" suggests that Mr. Vanegas originated the "[blank] is the new [blank]" construction. This is clearly not the case. In fact, the name of Mr. Vanegas's blog is a pun on the phrase "Pink is the New Black," which has been a fashion joke for just about as long as anyone can remember. Because of this, I'm deleting the above sentence from the article. Bukiluki 00:29, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
Magazine Article
editI remember reading somewhere that its probably not good practice to link to a magazine article unless it is referenced in the article? Does that mean we should remove these links?

Money
editIs this what Trent does for a living? What kind of money does he make? --202.47.49.97 12:33, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not sure. I believe so - I know that he has moved from Detroit to Los Angeles, presumably to be closer to Hollywood. David M. SpeedTalk 07:11, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
- Don't know what kind of money he makes, but this is his living. He used to be a teacher; he quit that job when his blog became successful. -- Superdosh 13:43, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
Proposed deletion
editI've prodded this article because it appears to be an advert; notability is asserted, but not established at all. If we can get some citations to back up the article's claims of notability, I'd be happy to remove the tag myself. | Mr. Darcy talk 01:27, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
I think there should be an article about the website itself, Pinkisthenewblog.com, not so much this person, because there is not information enough. And the articles right now is pretty much about the website, not the person.
We have already established that it's Trent Vanegas who's notable as opposed to the website. Let's leave it at that. | Witchbaby 03:12, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
Award Ceremony Attendance, Celebrity Interviews and Print Media notoriety?
editTrent has been invited to certain Award Ceremonies, the exact ones I'm not sure. I do know that he was invited to interview artists before the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards. By my reckoning he might be the first (or one of the first) bloggers to gain mainstream Hollywood attention.
Also, he was named one of the 100 most influential people on celebrities in a print magazine, wasn't he? Sorry to be so vague on this, but I don't think I have the time and enthusiasm to go through PiNB archives to find what he's attended and which magazines have done articles on him and included him in lists.
I get the impression (much like Punkmorten) that this article is relevant and worthy of a place in the Wikipedia. He seems to have highly dedicated fans (the ones that send in "Pink is the new X" photos) and some notoriety amongst the celebrities that he covers in his blog.
ViifogTalk 06:22, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
- I'd really like to see some tangible evidence that this is more than an advert for a non-notable, guy-in-pajamas Web site. The article and your note above each have a lot of assertions, but no proof. Right now, this fails Wikipedia:Notability (web), and while notability isn't everything, in this case I think it would be a good way to demonstrate that this isn't an advert. | Mr. Darcy talk 16:34, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
- I agree Mr Darcy, that the current state of the page renders it worthy of deletion. I was hoping somebody would find some citations for the assertions I listed above. Thanks to Witchbaby for finding those articles. Hopefully somebody is able to update the article to reflect notability. It's merely my gut feel that he has notoriety amongst the celebrity world and the public. If there are no changes to reflect this then I agree, the article shouldn't stay in its current form. - ViifogTalk 03:27, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
- Those are good finds, Witchbaby, but I think those demonstrate the notability of Trent Vanegas rather than of the site, at least if we go by WP:WEB. Does the website of a notable person become notable automatically? Should we relocate this to Trent Vanegas, with a redirect from this page to his page? Then we could structure the article better too, as a bio, with his vital stats, etc., and a link to his blog at the bottom. I'm just making suggestions here and am looking for feedback. | Mr. Darcy talk 03:34, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
- What we could do is a Trent Vanegas bio page with a subsection about Pink is the New Blog, then a link at the bottom. The more I think about it, the more I agree that with Mr. Darcy that it's Vanegas that's notible as opposed to the website. Pink is all about Trent's views on Pop-Culture and celebrity, so that would work for me. | Witchbaby 06:05, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
- I couldn't agree more with redirecting to Trent Vanegas. - ViifogTalk 06:15, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
- Done. I cleaned it up a bit, took out some garbage, tagged a few things, and put it in a few categories. What we really need now is bio/background info. Also, let's get those links Witchbaby found into the article, preferably as references. | Mr. Darcy talk 16:40, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
I want to know more
editI think Pink is the new blog is notable enough to be in Wikipedia-- look at all the media coverage it gets... In fact, I want to know more about Trent Vanegas- who is he? What did he do before? How did he get started in blogging? How/why dis pink start getting so much attention?

- User's first edit on Wikipedia. And for what it's worth, I still don't see any evidence of media coverage. | Mr. Darcy talk 17:41, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
Dating Status
editIs this really that relevant? Sources??
Why is the Trent Vanegas page redirected from the Jossip link? Trent's site is a completely separate entity from David Hausalaib's, thus my confusion in understanding why they are linked. 68.192.133.229 15:02, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Out of interest, are they still together? --Speedway.Moz (talk) 07:23, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
Pink Is The New Blog
editIt seems as though Trent is only notable via the blog. I'd propose deleting this page and creating a new one for PITNB. BigBrightStars (talk) 01:22, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
