On the name "trichloroacetyl chloride"
editThe German names "trichloracetylchlorid" and "trichloracetylchlorür" referred to Hexachloroethane and Tetrachloroethylene respectively.(Annalen der Chemie und Pharmacie, vol 75-76, 1850, p. 236) The term "acetyl" was first used to refer to the vinyl radical. A short search on Internet Archive showed me that this wasn't a one-time use. ⲔⲖⲞⲢⲠⲒⲔⲢⲒⲚ (talk) 13:47, 19 May 2024 (UTC)
