boiling point

edit

Shouldn't that be "low boiling point" ? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 128.102.146.222 (talk) 00:25, 24 February 2007 (UTC).Reply

No. Its boiling point is high relative to other refrigerants. P Cottontail 06:57, 8 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Use in production of illegal drugs

edit

It appears that this chemical also has illegal uses, which could be useful to note. "Liquid Freon is used as a solvent for methamphetamine base extraction. It is most frequently used by Mexican National labs (Turkington, 2000)." - http://oehha.ca.gov/public_info/pdf/TSD%20Freon%20Meth%20Labs%2010'8'03.pdf 94.171.158.108 (talk) 19:30, 28 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Ozone depletion

edit

The claim that it has the highest ODP of any refrigerant is incorrect. ODP is an arbitrary value that happens to use R11 as 1.0 reference. There are higher ODP refrigerants such as low-temperature refrigerant R13B1 which has an ODP of 10. The statement was unreferenced anyways.Cantaloupe2 (talk) 10:36, 4 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

HVAC Rinsing Statement

edit

The statement there regarding

"trichlorofluoromethane was sometimes used as a cleaning/rinsing agent for low pressure systems, often dumping the used and "dirty" liquid."

Is not entirely correct. R-11 has been used historically and even now to flush ALL hvac systems (whether low/high). It is illegal to use today, but people use it to flush R-22 and even high pressure R-410a systems.
