Chinese tripods
editThese bowls with three legs might have the same name (even this point is dubious), but they are completely different objects - their purpose is totally unrelated to a surveying tripod and therefore I recommend deleting it or at the very least, moving it to some other page. Introduction
editThe positioning of the three feet away from the vertical centre allows the tripod better leverage for resisting lateral forces. Tripods have the disadvantage of being heavy and bulky although they can be used with large equipment.
Am I the only one who thought tripods main advantages were compactness and portability, and biggest worry is having them fall over? 81.165.78.108 (talk) 18:49, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
