Most important city

edit

What makes Tripoli the most important city? Over Beirut? Especially with a bad economy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jlhinch (talkcontribs) 21:36, 28 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Economy

edit

As this city has a poor economy and a high unemployment rate, are there any NGOs or organizations that are combating this and/or helping people find jobs? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jlhinch (talkcontribs) 21:33, 28 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Religion

edit

There is no specific area discussing religion and its development. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jlhinch (talkcontribs) 18:35, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Education

edit

Under the education section, there is information on the many schools found in the city. What is the literacy rate? How is the access to schooling for different populations? Jlhinch (talk) 20:15, 26 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

This article is pathetically small!--Greasysteve13 10:59, 11 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

The inscription of the lower picture is wrong: It is IMPOSSIBLE to see Tripoli from the Krak des Chevaliers in Syria! The distance amounts to about mountainous 50 km. M0s6p 16:15, 8/30/2006 (CET)

Tripoli Province, Ottoman Empire

edit

What was the precise extent of the province under the Ottomans? This article redirects from there but has no information; it's just about the city. 216.231.46.147 01:32, 29 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

tripoli, a beautiful city in its own right, no matter where u can see it from.211.28.7.164 04:59, 17 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tripoli is extremely well planned and has many modern buildings and villas (especially the Maarad street area), i think it will be more accurate to show this large part of the city along side the extremely poor area shown above the River Abu Ali. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 196.44.96.241 (talk) 00:05, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

More images?

edit

This article could really need some more pictures, and perhaps some more sections other than that huge text about the city's history. I had taken a few photos myself when I last visited, but I have no idea where they are now. -193.193.85.118 10:46, 26 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Modern history?

edit

Why is there nothing about it? Funkynusayri (talk) 14:11, 28 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Because no one's added it yet? Feel free to expand.  :) --Elonka 15:33, 28 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Heh, I know, but I don't know enough to write anything worth wile, I just assumed the guy who wrote all the other history stuff would had written on, but for some reason he didn't. Funkynusayri (talk) 15:45, 28 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
My guess is because he "ran out of source." Usually when I'm updating a history page, I'm working from a history book (or a stack of history books) that focus on a specific period of history. Also, when I have those books in front of me, I'll generally be working on many different articles, but all within that "slice" of timeframe. For example, right now I'm working on the Crusades, which means that I have a couple dozen books on the Crusades in my living room, and I'm adding a lot of information about 1200s and 1300s to many Wikipedia articles, but it may leave those articles with sudden gaps for post-1300 information.  :) Eventually someone will come along with other sources and continue filling in the information. If you'd like to help, check out scholar.google.com or books.google.com , there's a lot of good info there. Sometimes you can read entire books online that way. :) --Elonka 17:17, 28 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

political events

edit

shouldnt there be some mentions of political events like the assassination of Saleh al Aridi Lihaas (talk) 14:19, 27 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Basically the whole modern overview of the city is yet to be written, including the past 100 years of history, demographics, local politics, notable events, etc. --Delirium (talk) 07:54, 29 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ancient History

edit

the part on the inability to excavate Tripoli is copied straight from this website, without quotations. http://www.tripoli-city.org/prehistoric.html In fact, most of the information in the history section is taken from the history section on this site http://www.tripoli-city.org/history.html. 98.248.176.63 (talk) 06:04, 30 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

"Surviving" islands?

edit

The phrase raises obvious questions, which are nowhere answered. Did Lebanon once have other islands? If so, when, and what happened to them?

Perhaps more to the point, some verification of the validity of the phrase is called for. 209.179.81.163 (talk) 00:29, 26 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Adding a new section or only add the Article

edit

Hi friends, @EP111:, @ChrisGualtieri:, @Cynwolfe:, @Dimadick:. I have just finished the Article about new Tripoli incident, Gunman attack in Tripoli 2019. I offer you to open a new sub-section for this subject inside the Article for the subject. If you are agree let me know, I will do it and ask your comment in next step. Thank you All.Forest90 (talk) 12:59, 7 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Forest90: BattyBot is only a bot, so it's not able to create a new subsection. I added a link from Tripoli, Lebanon#See also to Gunman attack in Tripoli 2019, and will continue making edits to both articles. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 16:04, 7 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
@GoingBatty:, thank you my friend. I didn't recognize the bot, sorry for this. And thank you for adding the Article in see also section. What do you think about adding a new subsection inside this article about terrorist attack?Forest90 (talk) 17:25, 7 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Forest90: I agree with @Funkynusayri: and @Elonka: in the #Modern history? section above. Knowledgable editors could add a section about modern history, which could include some info about the 2019 gunman attack. GoingBatty (talk) 17:37, 7 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
@GoingBatty:, Do you want to add the new subsection or I add?Forest90 (talk) 15:29, 8 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Forest90: I do not want to add a new section, but have no issue with you adding it. GoingBatty (talk) 15:31, 8 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
@GoingBatty:, thank you my friend. @EP111:, @ChrisGualtieri:, @Cynwolfe:, @Dimadick:, I'll wait for your comment about my offer.Forest90 (talk) 15:35, 8 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Forest90: I have the same opinion as GoingBatty. Also, you've no need to ask, just be bold. EP111 (talk) 18:41, 8 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
