Demographics
The "demographics" section had no information on the culture of 70% of the state (the Bengali and Manipuri communities), and so I added that information. Of course, most of the information in that section deals with the tribal communities, as they are unique to the state, but there should at least be a mention of the majority ethnic groups. Someone deleted my addition, but I added it again in a slightly reworded fashion. Please let me know if there is a way I can re-reword it if needed. --SameerKhan 09:15, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
Name in Kokborok
Hi Soman,
So what is there to contend with name of Tripura in Kokborok language?
Do you know that TTAADC was governed by INPT (Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra) from 2001 to 2006 and the Tripuri people have always called their land as 'Twipra.
Can you provide me with some reason why the name is contended!!
Local politicians, party names , literature, media, films, magazine and music industry of Tripura in Kokborok language refers to Tripura as Twipra .
regds, Bdebbarma 11:33, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
- The usage of 'Twipra' is a modern political invention. It was proposed as the alternative name by the ethno-nationalists, but has not been universally accepted. The official naming at [1] is clearly 'Tripura'. If the TTAADC uses a different naming, please provide a source for that. --Soman 12:48, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
- nice edit to evade the issue (re: script).
The fact that Tripura is called as Twipra in Kokborok language is a reality. If you were a Tripuri you would have known. The Tripuri people never pronounce "tripura' , they always say Tipra or Twipra. The Tripuri people's views do not have much web presence , so sorry if i am not able to provide a proof.
regds, Bdebbarma 13:38, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
The problem is that 'realities' are often subjective. I have my own subjective understanding, namely that the Twipra is, at least in politics, a relatively new term. For example it was only after the formation of INPT that it was introduced in party names (TUJS always used 'Tripura' in their name). --Soman 14:28, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Why is someone acting as an unnecessary authority here in this wikipedia article and blocking additions of valid Wiki external links?
I relinked Profile of Twipra (Tripura) and Information on the culture and life of Tripura at the Delhi Tripura Scoiety's official website, as they are sites run by esteemed organizations of Tripura and Delhi respectively regarding information on the state.

Works to do
- Incorporate data from The Human Development Report and census 2011. The Human Develpment Report should provide a strong base for improvement.
- Divisions: Following the new division of districts, this map would not be valid. Somehow we need to develop a new map.
- Remove or/and merge following headings/subheadings: "Tripura and Rabindranath" (!!!); Hinduism, Islam, Christianity under Demographics;
- Expand ALL sections.
- Add references, maintaining internal consistency. Please maintain full date formatting with day before month (such as 30 March 2012). The references that use other date format should be changed to this. Also, please de-capitalise first letters of words (although they may be in capital in the source) in the title of article being used a source (unless proper noun). Let's use last| and first| for author names. (these all are for the aske of maintaining internal consistency of the article).--Dwaipayan (talk) 17:09, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

dead wikilinks
I came across approx 10 dead links (wikilinks) in this article. Are the redlinks meant for development of future articles? Is someone working on this articles? If not then we might be in for a long and tedious re-write. Is their some criteria for FA articles to have X number of wikilinks or something?--Wikishagnik (talk) 22:49, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, the redlinks are meant for future development of individual articles. No, there is no criteria for FA articles to have X number of wikilinks. Wikilinks should be given only when appropriate. Please see Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Linking. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 00:18, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
Old map of Tripura
The section "Division" says that, from January 2012, there are 8 districts in Tripura, however, the image besides the section shows an older version. Would be nice if someone can upload a newer, correct version. Jobin (talk) 09:28, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- This is needed of course. Unfortunately a map with new division is not available yet in the internet. Once it is available (in any government website), a new map will be drawn in wikipedia.--Dwaipayan (talk) 13:22, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- Adding a note to the caption of the image explaining the map is an older one, till a newer map is not found. Jobin (talk) 15:29, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

- Too many redlinks
- Importance: Med
The article has too many redlinks. Well though redlink is not bi issue in GA, but I have my personal opinion here. I think a good number of general (non-editor) readers don't understand that red link mean "page does not exit" and they click on it and finally find the page has not been created. It happened with me too. So, please verify this instruction once again: Wikipedia:REDLINK#When_to_create_red_links --Tito Dutta ✉ 18:09, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
- Most of the redlinks are notable entities without articles, such as national parks, rivers, mountain range, animal species, major tribal dances and major tribal worships. There may be some that as such may or may not need an article ( like, Tripura transport corporation). I will go through all of them and update here. However I suspect most of them redlinks are going to stay, as most of them are uncontroversially notable (unless respective articles are created and those redlinks automatically turns blue.).--Dwaipayan (talk) 12:20, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

- I have added some more CN tags. For this information Elements of Bengali culture, such as Bengali literature, Bengali music, and Bengali cuisine predominate particularly in the urban areas of the state. I have not added any tag as I felt it might be difficult to collect sources for this, but add citation here too if possible! --Tito Dutta ✉ 00:19, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
- Citation needed tags have been addressed. For the Rajmala sentence in history, multiple refs have been added to serve individual purpose. One reference supports the reign period of the king, one reference directly links to a copy of Rajmala (in Bengali language) to show that it concludes with the description of king Krishna Kishore Manikya, and yet one more ref to show that Krishna Kishore Manikya was 179th king.
- For the sentence in geography section regarding accessibility of the state, the national highways list has been used as the reference. The list mentions the course of the two national highways. However, the list does not mention the precise districts through which those highway pass. That those highwas pass through those districts were inferred from district maps of Assam and Mizoram. However, the district maps of the two states do not explicitly show the highways passing through the mentioned districts, as the maps of districts do not show the highways at all, and the maps of the highways do not show the districts! If you think just mentioning the highway list as reference is insufficient, I can cite the multiple maps ( perhaps using cite map template) to build my case. On the other hand, if this is too cumbersome, we can simply delete the names of the district (which I think is unnecessary details) and just keep the the names of the states.. --Dwaipayan (talk) 06:51, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

Good work
Good work everyone, it is really a beautiful article. -sarvajna (talk) 07:44, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
um, completeness? so there is a major tribal insurrection in progress, alluded to in lots of broken stub articles such as Tripuri nationalism, Tripura rebellion etc., apparently with terrorist attacks claiming a steady stream of a couple dozen victims a year (out of a population of 3.6M, this scales to a 9/11 attack every couple of months for the US, this is certainly close to the civil war threshold), but this "featured article" decided to not mention any of this with a single word? I realize the "FA" process is more about punctuation and image selection than about topical completeness or accuracy, but this is pretty glaring. --dab (𒁳) 08:25, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- I was not aware of any of this - can you suggest what needs to be summarised and added? Casliber (talk · contribs) 10:35, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- The insurgency has been mentioned in History (Ethnic strife between the tribes and the predominantly immigrant Bengali community led to scattered violence, and an insurgency spanning decades. This gradually abated following the establishment of a tribal autonomous district council and the use of strategic counter-insurgency operations, aided by the overall socio-economic progress of the state. Tripura remains peaceful, as of 2012.)--Dwaipayan (talk) 11:19, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

how can i add a column about Tourist spots? Pinku385 (talk) 22:57, 31 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Pinku385: Firstly, you need to read WP:NOTTRAVEL. Wikipedia is not a travel guide and you should not include a list of "hot" or "interesting" tourist spots. You can, however, document places frequented by tourists that are already popular and notable (that is, they have their own articles). You can include things like history of tourism in Tripura, number of tourists visiting Tripura every year and recognition of tourist places by international organizations such as UNESCO. You can use the tourism section in the featured article Karnataka or good article Kerala for guidance. Of course, all content addition has to be accompanied by reliable sources, otherwise it can be removed at any time. —Gazoth (talk) 06:21, 1 September 2018 (UTC)

Indo Pakistan war in 1971
It should be more authentic to mention Bangladesh liberation war in 1971. The Bangladesh first government was established in 17 April under whose command Bangladesh liberation war was operated. In 26 the march 1971 Major Zia ( Zia ur Rahman) declared war for Independence of Bangladesh on behalf of the political leader of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. In march 25 when Pakistani Junta started massacre in all over the villages of Bangladesh ( East Pakistan) particularly in Chakla Roshnabad area (Present Cumilla, Feni district) most of the Muslim and Hindu family took Refuge in their old address named their own capital city Agartola ( Rajnagar, krishnanagar, Sree Nagar) and came back to Bangladesh just immediate before liberation and immediate after liberation war.
Tripura is at present neighbour of Bangladesh. But before 1947 it was Princly Independent state with East Bengal, West Bengal and part of Assam. Shafiqur Mazumdar (talk) 14:26, 20 April 2019 (UTC)
Misleading information in the Culture section?
How can the 'dominant' ethnic groups be Tripuri, if Bengalis account for nearly 70% of the State's population? --Theudariks (talk) 14:16, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
Percentages of religious populations
This edit caught my eye. It changed the percentage figure for Muslims in Tripura asserted by this article from 8.6% to 12.6%. No reason was given for the change but, as I see that the 12.6 figure appears elsewhere in the article, I'm guessing that the change was to bring the two figures into line. The two mentions of the 12.6 figure are both attributed to the 2011 census, citing two different supporting sources. Neither of those sources provide that information directly, but by following links from one of them, I eventually arrived at https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?diff=712240627#cite_note-census2011-129 and by entering the formula =100*N56/H56 in a blank cell there I found that the 2011 census apparently reported that Muslims in Tripura amounted to 9% of the population there (not 8.6%, and not 12.6%). I imagine that other assertions in this and other articles regarding religious population percentages mighe exhibit similar seeming discrepancies. Original research
@Tirengma: Please maintain WP:NOR. Note that the government census source stratifies Kokborok, Reang, Tripuri, separately under a group called Tripuri. 25.9% speakers are from the whole group, while the Kokborok as per the government is only spoken by 21%. If you want to keep Kokborok, you have to write the percentage as 21% and if you want Tripuri you have to write 25%. You can't have Tripuri (Kokborok) and write it as 25%. That would be an original research. Follow the source [2]. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 12:26, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
