Who developed it and for who?
editAs far as I know SAAB payed Triumph to develop the engine and that's why it was first fitted into SAABs. Later Triumph adapted the design for rear wheel drive and used it in their own cars. // Liftarn
The Slant-4 was not a replacement for the two-stroke and V4. Saab just sourced it for their brand new 99 model. The V4 (by Ford) was brought in to replace the two-stroke in the Saab 96. The 96 and 99 didn't have a single screw in common, as far as I know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.22.52.62 (talk) 21:06, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
