Aztar selling
editAs far as I know the sale is not completed so Aztar should remain as owner. It will take several months for all of the states to approve the ownership change. Vegaswikian 02:32, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
Statue of Lenin
editVegaswikian wrote in his/her edit summary that "..Statues are generally not notable, especially when they lack the contreversery (sic) of others".
I believe the display of a statue of Lenin, given his history as the first 'Premier' of the Soviet Union, is controversial. He did murder millions of people or at least was responsible for their deaths. (Let us leave the 'communism killed'/'communism did not kill' areguments aside and just take as a given that Lenin was/is a controversial figure.)
Now we have the display of a statue of Lenin, not toppled-over or headless (as is the case at the Red Square restaurant in Las Vegas), in a high profile public place. I feel compelled to say that constitutes a notable situation.
I propose that we invite the feedback of other Wikipedians and ask their opinions ('delete'/'do not delete' and why) in order to arrive at a consensus before we do anything else.
O.k. everybody - add your 2 cents.
Change of Ownership to Conservator/Trustee
editIn the InfoBox I changed ownership from Adamar of New Jersey, a subsidary of Columbia Sussex to TBD - Conservatorship/Trustee, This is per the New Jersey Casino Control Commission order #07-12-12-27-A (Click here for ruling on Page 3 of order) and I quote "It is further ordered that the Adamar Board of Directors shall immediately resign and, failing such action, the ICA trustee as OWNER of Adamar's equity security through the ICA Trust shall remove such directors." which to me indicates that Columbia Sussex is NO LONGER the legal owner of the Tropicana Casino and Resort and regardless of what User:Vegaswikian feels regarding my previous edits to change this that he felt I was wrong, I hate to tell him, but I told you so I was right, New Jersey casino regulators do have the right to take possession of a casino property without eminent domain. Simon Bar Sinister (talk) 07:48, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for providing documentation that shows ownership has not changed. The Trustee is in control and operating the property. There is nothing in that order that states that the state has taken the property from Aztar et al. They have revoked the license which is needed to operate the casino. So please revert back to the correct owner. Vegaswikian (talk) 22:13, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- What part of ICA trustee as OWNER don't you understand?? The ICA Trust owns all of the equity of Adamar which means that Columbia Sussex does not have any ownership interest in Adamar or the Tropicana, Why is that such a hard concept for you to grasp?? Tivoli Pier/TropWorld
editThe entry states that:
"The Tropicana Atlantic City officially opened on November 23, 1981 with 521 guest rooms and casino space. Shortly after opening a unique indoor amusement area called Tivoli Pier was built and within a year the name of the resort was changed to TropWorld Casino and Entertainment Resort."
Tivoli Pier was not opened until around 1988- I don't know if that qualifies as 'shortly.' It was at this time that the name was changed to 'TropWorld.' While this name change certainly happened within a year of the opening of Tivoli Pier, it did not happen within a year of the opening of the facility, as the entry seems to imply.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.200.117.190 (talk) 14:35, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Tropicana Casino & Resort Atlantic City → Tropicana Atlantic City – WP:COMMONNAME. The opening sentence of the article doesn't use the current longer title and neither does the brand logo shown at the top of the article. Google Ngrams does not find the current title but it finds find the suggested title. The Las Vegas casino article is similarly named in a simple form as Tropicana Las Vegas. — BarrelProof (talk) 04:32, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
- Support per nom. Seems an airtight case to me on several grounds as described above. Andrewa (talk) 08:33, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
