This may need to be verified of course, but isn't it possible that before this property was a "farm", that it was formerly the location of MarineLand of the Pacific - a marine mammal park that was there from the 50's into the mid 80's? Marineland of the Pacific was redeveloped as a resort, reported by the LA Times, 12JUN2009.
"Terranea Resort is an $480-million hotel and spa just completed on the former site of Marineland of the Pacific in Rancho Palos Verdes.
