editShouldn't this be "Trustee system"? Adam Cuerden talk 01:58, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- I checked the refs [1], which use the Trusty spelling. A trustee is a person under the Trusty system. Jeff Dahl (Talk • contribs) 06:56, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- Fair enough. Just seemed worth checking. Adam Cuerden talk 07:37, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
One reference written in 1930 does not create our language. Wouldn't the O.E.D. be a better source on such a thing? "Trusty" is an illiterate usage. It is a "Trustee System" because it relies on trustees. There is no such animal as a "trusty". "Trusty System" would be an old, venerable, and reliable system; like one's "trusty hammer". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.190.163.70 (talk) 03:34, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
