"Ice" Oilers There should be a reference to the fact that the Tulsa Oilers (1964 - 1984) were referred to commonly as the "Tulsa Ice Oilers," due to the fact that the Tulsa Oilers (1905 - 1976) baseball team shared the "Oiler" name. During the time that both teams co-existed, the hockey team was differentiated from the baseball team in news reporting and in local nomenclature by including "Ice" in the name of the hockey team.
