editThe article claims the depression covers about 3 million km2, citing the Great Soviet Encyclopedia. However, the source does not mention this figure or any figure. If anyone has an understanding of Central Asia, you will see how this 3 million km2 seems far-fetched. The whole of Central Asia is about 4 million km2, so it seems unlikely the depression, which is one of many features, covers three quarters of the whole region.
