The result of the move request was: disambiguation page moved to Turn Up the Music. Favonian (talk) 11:14, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
Turn Up the Music (song) → Turn Up the Music – Specifically and accurately that is the only track that has "Turn Up The Music". If you will oppose this request, why shall we use Turn Up the Music as a disambiguation page since there are some other terms for "Turn Up the Music" such as Turn Up the Music!, How You Live (Turn Up the Music), and Turn Up the Music: The Hits of Point of Grace. This request is not mandatory. It is all up to the wikiverse to decide. j3j3j3...pfH0wHz 08:51, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose: Turn Up the Music and Turn Up the Music! are almost similar it's confusing. But I will support the disambiguation page. Oz talk 20:31, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose; definitely needs a disambiguation page. Like this one: Turn Up the Music (disambiguation), which I've just created. The disambiguation page should be moved to the base title instead. Powers T 21:45, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose the move and suppor the disambiguation page. Dicklyon (talk) 08:53, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
- Response @Oz talk, @Powers T @Dicklyon (talk) I will accept your response since I'm not forcing it to move. Anyway, should we make a disambiguation page for Turn Up the Music as Turn Up the Music (disambiguation) (must have the primary topic) or Turn Up the Music???? j3j3j3...pfH0wHz 09:02, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
- I don't see any evidence of a primarytopic, so the disambig should be Turn Up the Music. Dicklyon (talk) 16:44, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
- @Dicklyon (talk) Agree! Case closed! Since there is no primary topic, use Turn Up the Music as the disambiguation page and NOT primary topic. j3j3j3...pfH0wHz 07:48, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

Question
editAt #100 on this week's chart is a song called Turn Up the Music and it's by Beautiful People. I'm thinking it's a remix of this, but I want that clarified. --90.215.76.134 (talk) 16:44, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

Edit war
editI've protected the page for a day to see if I can get y'all to discuss the change.
When I go to the BMI link given as a reference and navigate to this work (here), there does appear to be "MERRITT, ANDRE DARRELL" listed as a writer/composer. I'm not super active in music articles, but is this not considered a WP:RS? Kuru (talk) 22:36, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Kellymoat:, @Factsonly245:. Kuru (talk) 22:44, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
- Also here is the direct link to ASCAP showing the same exact registration. https://mobile.ascap.com/aceclient/AceWeb/#ace/search/title/Turn%20up%20the%20music/performer/Chris%20brown — Preceding unsigned comment added by Factsonly245 (talk • contribs) 23:21, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
- BMI is the legal performance right agency if you clicked on the link that means it expired but you can click on the link again type in the title of the song and it will list every single song writer on there and Andre Merritt's name is on there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Factsonly245 (talk • contribs) 23:18, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
First, I am going to go on record (again), by saying "Wikipedia needs to find better sources. Most of the acceptable sources are full of inaccuracies. All we end up doing is rehashing false information already found on other sites. What's the point!"
Now, with that being said - Sure, you have showed a page saying that this guy was involved (or, at least it did yesterday, I can't seem to make his name work today). But where else does it say it? The typical 'goto' sites for WP personnel lists do not list him. That's where the problem occurs. A site like AllMusic (which is one of those inaccurate sites that WP finds acceptable) does not list him on the credits for this song/album, but it does list 50 other personnel. On AllMusic, we find "all" of the acceptable personnel in one list. Even when I could get bmi to work, it didn't say that he wrote the Chris Brown song, it simply stated that a song called "Turn Up the Music" was in his credits.
Contrast that with what you posted - Two sites that lists a couple names (bmi and ascap) but lack the rest of them. A wiki, which is therefore unreliable (discogs). A site that shows the guy is real but doesn't list this song in this guy's credits (Merritt's AllMusic page).
Sorry, but I vote no to adding this name. Kellymoat (talk) 13:52, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
@kellymoat
I can tell by your response that you're not in the music industry. Even with you not being in the music industry as a record executive like myself you can go online and research what BMI and ASCAP is. All music credit is nothing but a scanned database that messes up all the time it is not a legal credential-based platform. BMI and ASCAP doesn't lie because they are the legal registration holders of every single song that is copywritten and register whatever names that are listed on any song on ASCAP or BMI are the parties that are actually receiving royalties every quarter for the song. In order for a songwriter to get paid residuals from any work they've done they have to register with BMI or ASCAP so if you go to both of those sites and go to the search bar type in Chris Brown's name and the title of the song able to list every single rider on there and Andre Merritt's name is on there. It also shows the publishing companies involved such as universal. And this matter was brought to my attention by two different record executives that were distraught about this information because they know that Andre Merritt owns the majority of the percentage of this record and he wasn't even listed on the regular credit database which caused a dispute but his name is of course on the registration because he gets the royalties for that song. Also if you look at Andre Merritt on allmusic.com you will see that he is the main writer for Chris Brown's biggest songs such as "Forever" "Wet the bed" to name a few. This needs to be corrected immediately and if it doesn't get corrected in the next two days I have no problem contacting universal administrators and RCA records to handle this matter themselves which they will. My team has corrected so many false credentials on Wikipedia over the past seven years it's unbelievable how much wrong information has been placed on Wikipedia when it comes to music crediting. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Factsonly245 (talk • contribs) 19:56, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
Here is the original registration through ASCAP it states every writer and even the performance right legal identification number as well as Chris Brown identification number and his name is well you don't get more real than this get it corrected immediately thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Factsonly245 (talk • contribs) 20:03, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
- I decided to check out the ASCAP link above, and here's what I found in its terms of use:

- Based on that disclaimer, is the ACE repository a reliable source? I'm not convinced that there's an editorial review process going on. —C.Fred (talk) 20:10, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
@ Factsonly245 I am sure that the good people at Wikipedia are quaking in their boots at the fact that a billion dollar corporation is concerned about one uncredited writer. But, all threats aside, you aren't helping your case any. He has been credited with Brown on previous works, but mistakenly left off of this one? I mean, he is the Bernie Taupin to Elton John's Chris Brown, but he wasn't credited. Sorry, not buying it. So, go ahead, sue the pants off of me and Wikipedia. Wouldn't it be easier to ask Allmusic to change their site so that this site can repeat the information? Kellymoat (talk) 21:50, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
@Kellymoat I can't believe you just questioned Ascap and Bmi? Everyone knows that you cannot give more accurate than the performance right agencies because they're the ones that actually pay out the royalties to all the songwriters. All music is already correcting the issue right now. Since you believe allmusic.com is add actual accurate credit database let me educate you on what they do as a regular procedure. Label A&R's & record executives like myself contact them to correct credentials every single day and guess who they have to verify with to verify the credentials of a song to determine if it's right or wrong? www.bmi.com. www.ascap.com. www.sesac.com once they take a look at the registration of the song and see who the legal owners are they correct it. I'm understanding that you're not in the music industry you don't understand how rights of registration works I'm just educating you on it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Factsonly245 (talk • contribs) 20:25, 1 January 2017 (UTC)
- This is Wikipedia. You are trying way too hard. Kellymoat (talk) 03:57, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
@kellymoat
It's clear that you think this is ok. I already contacted everybody it will be handle and corrected there's nothing else to speak about. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Factsonly245 (talk • contribs) 08:53, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is not a primary source. I am glad that you went to primary sources to correct the information. Places like Wikipedia will then follow suit. Kellymoat (talk) 12:15, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
