Incoherence regarding the position in list of deepest depressions on earth;s surface
editIn the Introduction: "It includes the second lowest exposed point on the Earth's surface, after the Dead Sea". In the 'Geology and relief' section": "the third lowest elevation on the Earth's land surface (after the Dead Sea..." Could someone correct this? Duncan.france 11:29, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
It has to be second or third, the Jordan valley is deeper, and the Afar Depression has pretty much exactly the same depth. The next lowest is the Caspian Depression.
Of course it isn't meaningful to count the "nth deepest point on earth", as geometric points aren't discrete and an arbitrary number of points can be counted within an arbitrarily small area. What is intended here is clearly a notion of "negative prominence". --dab (𒁳) 14:48, 8 September 2018 (UTC)
