Issues in the article

Infobox

• "Type" should just read "compilation", not linked "compilation album".
• "Recorded" should read "1956–1960 at Universal Studio in Chicago, Illinois".
• Not neccesarry but the use of {{Start date}}, {{End date}} and {{Duration}} templates would be useful.

Lead

• "Two Steps from the Blues is a 1961 compilation album by Bobby Bland" > "Two Steps from the Blues is a compilation album by American blues musician Bobby Bland, released on January 1, 1961 on Duke Records."
• "session" > "sessions".
• "where Bland and his band [...] singles and albums" needs a reference.
• Reference also needed for list of band members.
• Full stop after "John "Jabo" Starks" (drums)".
• Italicise Rolling Stone.
• 500 Greatest Albums of All Time needs a reference.

Recording

• "Moving to Chicago on August 3, 1960 [...] to produce a third album." This sentence runs too long and needs a copyedit for clarity.
• "this album" > "Two Steps from the Blues".
• "1001 Greatest Singles Ever Made" statement needs a reference—unless it is mentioned in Farley's book.
• Billboard R&B > "Billboard R&B chart".
• All Billboard chart information needs a source.
• "big band-like" and "the sad and mood" sounds like music journalism, better wording could be used.
• Is all the information included in all three paragraphs sourced from Farley's book?

Reception

• Album release dates needs a reference.
• "became a critical and commercial success" needs a reference.
• Allmusic review reference should be moved to the end of "and one ended."
• Down Beat and Rolling Stone lists need references. (See References)

Track listing

• Composers/writers should be mentioned.

Chart

• Title should be either "Charts" or "Chart positions".
• A sub-section heading should be used denoting "Singles".

References

• Reference 7 is not a reliable source. The Down Beat and Rolling Stone lists could use references from either magazine.

Other comments

• I feel the article does not cover the album thoroughly enough. Two sections of prose that rely heavily on one source does not seem to meet the usual GAC for albums. Idiotchalk _(t@lk) 20:55, 16 December 2012 (UTC)

Examiner has good information, but the whole site is currently blacklisted. I am awaiting an response at MediaWiki talk:Spam-whitelist. There is a quote from Sweet Soul Music that could be added into the Reception section. Regards.--Tomcat (7) 13:52, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

My notice at that page was ignored or missed, so I just added the bare url. Sweet Soul Music has a quote which, however, is slightly off-topic. What I could add is information about the cover from the biography book and perhaps other sources, if I find any. I made several searches on gbooks and gnews (even searched the archives) but nothing special. Most of the sites or books included reviews, but which were not really convicing.--Tomcat (7) 15:41, 4 January 2013 (UTC)

Binksternet comments

• Tomcat7, you should not have added the examiner.com review in defiance of Wikipedia's spam blacklist. All by itself, the existence of that URL will stop this article from attaining GA status. Binksternet (talk) 01:17, 11 January 2013 (UTC)

  Agree with the above. Examiner's not a reliable source, and that being one of the main sources used makes me lean towards a fail solely for that. Wizardman 03:47, 11 January 2013 (UTC)

  Due to the examiner issue, this article fails GA status. If what's written there is notable than other sources can be found for it. Wizardman 18:22, 12 January 2013 (UTC)
