Orphaned references in Typhoon Cecil (1982)
editI check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Typhoon Cecil (1982)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT⚡ 08:28, 16 June 2018 (UTC)

Hello YE, I'm going to review this article tonight.--12george1 (talk) 03:40, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
- Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm counting 57 deaths. 35 in South Korea, 19 in Taiwan, and 3 in Japan. The infobox says 38 deaths
- Speaking of infobox, add Taiwan to the Areas affected in the infobox
- Japan and South Korea are both mentioned in the first sentence, but neither are wikilinked there. They should be wikilinked there rather than later in the lead section
- This apparently got fixed after the review but before I touched it. YE Pacific Hurricane 03:05, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
- "Truk on July 31 and over the next several days tracked westward." - I think it would be better to put "tracked westward" in front of "over"
- "where 2,800 families sough shelter." --> "where 2,800 families sought shelter."
- "Almost 1,300 houses were flooded, which resulted in 6,200 homeless." - Maybe change this to "Almost 1,300 houses were flooded, which resulted in 6,200 people becoming homeless."?
- "that would later became Typhoon Cecil" --> "that would later become Typhoon Cecil"
- "ship reports in the area that measured a central pressures of 1,000–1,003 mbar (29.5–29.6 inHg)," --> "ship reports in the area measuring central pressures of 1,000–1,003 mbar (29.5–29.6 inHg),"
- "Cecil briefly turned southward, slowed down, and then turned northwestward." - It's possible to avoid saying "turned" twice. Replace one of them with a word like "curved"
- Good call. YE Pacific Hurricane 03:05, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
- At 00:00 UTC on August 7," - Wikilink to Coordinated Universal Time
- "its track turned sharply northward until reaching the 25th parallel north" - The storm moved, not the track. Just change "its" to "it" and remove the word "track"
- Meh, okay. YE Pacific Hurricane 03:05, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
- "where 230 mm (9.2 in) fell in the capital during a 32-hour time span." - Wikilink Taipei at "capital"
- I'm noticing that you've used four references from United Press International and none of them have links. I'm pretty sure you could find links for those references on the UPI archive. For example, this link can be used for Ref 7. A link for Refs 14, 16, and 17 can probably be found from the archive as well
- I forgot to add the bit noting it was from LN like I usually do in all my GAN's. I realize we are often pushed to go further with this at FAC though with regards to providing links so let me know if this isn't enough. 03:11, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
That should be it. Let me know when you're finished--12george1 (talk) 03:40, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
- @12george1: Late but done. YE Pacific Hurricane 03:11, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
- @Yellow Evan: Sorry about the wait. I will now passing this article and list it as a GA.--12george1 (talk) 21:36, 29 January 2020 (UTC)
