Tyson has said himself that Russell didn't 'trick' or 'manipulate' him, but the show does. Adding to the article that Russell was the one that caused Tyson's blunder is incorrect. Can we please just settle with 'Tyson failed to adhere to Rob's plan'? It's a happy medium that doesn't favour either side of the debate. Asteroixiii (talk) 08:17, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I have recently been making improvements to Survivor-related articles and I have several requests for this one. The first is essential: the infobox needs some immediate fixing. The source labeled with a number 1 is a dead link and should be replaced with [1]. Also, this source does not mention Herber City as being his place of birth; it only mentions it as his current place of residence.

Here some other minor recommendations that would be helpful. I think it would be appropriate to add his nationality (with a U.S. flag icon), occupation (professional cyclist and Mormon missionary), and television appearances (Survivor: Tocantins, Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains, and Survivor: Blood vs. Water) to the infobox. The lead section should also be fixed up. It could read something like: "Tyson Apostol (born June 17, 1979) is an American professional cyclist and Mormon missionary, best known for his appearances on the popular U.S. reality show Survivor." I would also like to request adding a "See also" section. Here a portal bar could be added, linking to Portal:Biography, Portal:Cycling, Portal:Latter-day Saints, and Portal:Television in the United States. Finally, I think a link to the "American cyclists" category would be appropriate and it wouldn't hurt to rearrange the categories into alphabetical order for easier navigation. Oh, one more thing, please remove the one external link; it appears to be dead as well. It too can be replaced with the above link labeled with a number 1. Thank you for your time. I hope I don't seem too demanding, because I know it's probably an unusually large edit request. 108.95.130.150 (talk) 19:41, 4 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi, saw your follow-up at the Help Desk. Per your request, I've replaced the outdated source with the link you've provided. I've removed the dead link from the infobox. We wouldn't put a flag in the infobox per WP:INFOBOXFLAG. Template:Infobox person states that nationality should only be used if nationally cannot be inferred from birth place. I've removed birthplace as unsourced, but without a source, we're guessing that he's American, so I can't make that change. Added occupation as sourced, though I'm not sure Mormon missionary is considered an occupation, (I could be wrong, no disrespect intended to the devoted Mormons who make those sacrifices for their church, but I'll let my fellow editors make that call). Deleted external link as 404ing. Alphabetized categories. Added [[Category:American cyclists]]. Didn't do portals, as my instinct suggests is that we might be overdoing it with categories/portals, etc. I'd be more comfortable if another editor took a look at that part of your request and made the call. Hope I've been of some help! Cyphoidbomb (talk) 07:21, 12 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
@Cyphoidbomb: I think those were all good calls. Whether or not Mormon Missionary is an occupation, the fact that he did it for a couple of years seems worth a mention. On the portals: since this article really only deals with Apostol's participation in Survivor, it has little to contribute to Portal:Cycling and Portal:Latter-day Saints; likewise Portal:Biography, since this article scarcely is one. (I'm not sure about Portal:Television in the United States.) --Stfg (talk) 14:28, 12 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
@Stfg: Thanks for the response. I too felt that adding those portals seemed a little counter-intuitive for the reasons you've expressed. I was thinking about his birthplace and nationality. I removed the info as unsourced, but in retrospect, it seems like a non-controversial (or not likely to be challenged) bit of info, so a primary source (an interview, an episode) should be okay for that. Thoughts? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 14:40, 12 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I completely agree. Cheers, --Stfg (talk) 18:38, 12 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
