As someone who now lives in the area, it seems to me that the portion of this highway where it splits and has a wide median with numerous U-turns deserves much more detail, which unfortunately I don't have. All it says now is: "Past this interchange, US 22 has a wide median that contains numerous U-turn ramps." If you haven't driven on this road and attempted to go to any businesses located on it, you should, though I recommend taking out a hefty life insurance policy first as you may not survive if you do this during rush hour. This section of road surely must be some sort of crazy experiment in urban road design from the 50s or 60s, where someone thought it'd be a great idea for eliminating traffic lights, but completely failed to account for the fact that cars need time and space to merge safely into high-speed traffic. Surely there's some information out there on why this one section of US-22 is designed this way, and utterly unique in my travels across the country (utterly unique in its sheer dangerousness, I should add). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.142.44.112 (talk) 01:14, 19 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

I added a few words to mention the commercial businesses built in the median. This can be verified by observation and in satellite views on Google or Bing maps, so I doubt it needs a source. Can anyone in there right mind tell me why is the town of North Plainfield putting sidewalks on Rt.22. I thought the highway budget was out of money. If the money is coming from local taxes, then the town of North Plainfield should have given more thought to a costly project like this. Who is going to use it? Who is going to shovel the snow? I saw a person walking in the highway this morning (10-14-16) right next to the sidewalk????
