Man of the match

edit

I suggest putting directly the date the last match of this group will be played (20 June 2021) for the man of the match source. According to this, we don't have to update the retrieved date every time, like today 12 June 2021 in base of the match Wales v Switzerland. Island92 (talk) 12:34, 12 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Island92, the issue is that this leaves an error warning in the reference as the date is in the future. Probably better to just update the date as matches finish. S.A. Julio (talk) 14:26, 12 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Perfect. I didn't know that by adding a future date it would have brought about an error warning. Therefore, let's update it match by match.--Island92 (talk) 14:28, 12 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
@S.A. Julio: the link is being updated day by day. We can't show, for instance, Leonardo Spinazzola (Italy) date 11 June 2021 retrieved 16 June 2021. We need a solution.--Island92 (talk) 21:31, 18 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
I don't think it is much of an issue, the article was originally published on 11 June. If absolutely necessary would could update both dates. S.A. Julio (talk) 21:35, 18 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
@S.A. Julio: otherwise, we can use the Full Time Summary source in which next to Spinazzola there's the star. What do you think?--Island92 (talk) 21:41, 18 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Some of the full time summaries are missing the star though, such as Denmark v Finland. S.A. Julio (talk) 22:32, 21 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Only Denmark v Finland the star is missing.--Island92 (talk) 20:28, 23 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Mistake

edit

User:Island92 can make mistakes also. They fixed it here. See minute 0-15. This was the starting-11. Davies is a left back. He never played as a center back in is whole carrer. This wasnt a match progress. You are wrong. But if you think, you are right: let it wrong. Nice. Same thing with England. Sterling played on the left wing the whole match [1]. --HSV1887 (talk) 17:52, 13 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please, understand me and other users who are more expert than you, such as @S.A. Julio: We count Line-up positions, not match in progress, like previous tournaments. What happens after the kick-off doesn't count.--Island92 (talk) 17:57, 13 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
The UEFA makes this formations one hour before kick-off. Its just a suggestion, how the teams COULD start. Nothing more. You "expert" lol. The UEFA line-ups are just shit and you copy it. Thats bad work. The UEFA after match documents are also officiall and much better.--HSV1887 (talk) 17:58, 13 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
If you want to change things, let's start a new talk into WikiProjectFootball. Do not change things into these pages which are constantly updated by users who follow what has been decided for years. UEFA makes this formations one hour before kick-off, it is absolutely right, and the official line up appears into the official broadcast before kick-off, which people whatch.--Island92 (talk) 18:04, 13 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yes, but nobody knows, how the formation will be. The coaches just publish the 11 names. UEFA makes a suggestion with this 11 names. This can be right or absolute shit. For example Austria played 3-4-3 with Alaba as center back, but the UEFA didnt fix it. But here its the right formation, also from UEFA. So please use this formations. --HSV1887 (talk) 18:08, 13 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
No, I don't use them, because there is not consensus reached to use them into the Project Football here on Wikipedia. That file is provived after the match has started (the thing which we don't have to follow) not before, and before the kick-off the only file we must use is that related to the line up.--Island92 (talk) 18:12, 13 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
So what do you want to show? The right formation or something wrong?! Did you watch the matches on TV? --HSV1887 (talk) 18:14, 13 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
The right formation (line-up), as it has been used for years. Again, see previous tournaments and you will find out the same information.--Island92 (talk) 18:17, 13 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
@HSV1887: The formations aren't just a guess though. They're provided by the team reporters at the game based on their knowledge of the two teams. Ben Davies has indeed played as a centre-back on occasion, albeit technically on the left side of a three-man defence. It was a reasonable assumption that he might have done the same yesterday. Of course, that left Mepham (an actual centre-back) listed as a left-back for the game, which is less sensible, but it's in an official UEFA source. – PeeJay 18:36, 13 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
