At the bottom of your article you mention the Katmai Bay helping with Ice Breaking in the Great Lakes.
editAs a plankowner of the Mackinaw, and having sailed on other CG Icebreaking tugs on the Great Lakes, I would like to remind you that there are several other vessels on the Great Lakes that share the load.
CGC Neah Bay CGC Mobile Bay CGC Alder CGC Biscayne Bay CGC Bristol Bay CGC Hollyhock CGC Morro Bay CGC Buckthorn
Lets give love where love is due. These aging vessels (except in the case of the Mac and the 225s) are the work horses on the Great Lakes. Often over utilized and under appreciated.
