Talk Page Structure

edit
@Liuc11Anders: @LIUC11Nicolai: Note the guidelines/help on using Talk pages, and look at some existing Talk pages. You need to create section headers for these to structure the themes, organize discussion and create clarity here, so it is organized and meaningful for other editors e.g. a section on Useful Sources, containing the subsections below. You can edit your Talk posts to fix/remove this if you wish. Avoid the use of the personal e.g. 'you can'.

Limelightangel (talk) 20:30, 14 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

2 of the sections headers are put together, and the header is changed to useful sources. LIUC11Nicolai (talk) 14:36, 21 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

For help adding the pronunciation of the football clubs name --> IPA, in the intro. Rednax11 (talk) 16:35, 15 November 2023 (UTC).Reply

In an official document from the football club it says the full name of the football club is "Unione Sportiva Dilettantistica Castellanzese 1921 Associazione Sportiva Dilettantistica". [1] --Rednax11 (talk) 00:44, 21 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Infobox

edit

For the infobox, there is the need to add the logo image. It could be also interesting adding the uniform photos (home colours, away colors). Like this one https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC_Milan Liuc11nicole (talk) 17:37, 14 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Help with Infoboxes on football clubs

edit

1. There is help on football Club pages as part of Wikipedia Football Clubs Project: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Football/Clubs/Templates, including a page to help on Italian clubs: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Football/Clubs/Templates/Italy

2. For the infobox: https://en.wikipedia.org › wiki › Template:Infobox_fo... This has predefined fields and Parameters, including club name; year the club was founded; The commonly-used name of the club; ground — with examples.

3. Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Templates https://en.wikipedia.org › wiki › Templates For most major clubs and national teams, there are navboxes for the current squad that can be inserted at the foot of a player's biography, including ‎Squad lists. Use of Talk page

edit

@Liuc11nicole: Note the guidelines on Talk page use, including style, structuring the discusions and signing all posts:Help:Talk_pages. Avoid the personal tense where possible ('I', 'we') and inappropriate language ('gonna'). Talk is visible to other editors, so it needs to be clear who is saying what, and 'we' will mean nothing to them. To sign posts you can use the 1 click option below the editor space, or simply add the 4 '~' symbols manually. You can edit Talk pages to correct your content.Limelightangel (talk) 09:36, 19 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Relevance & Style

edit

The following paragraph is irrelevant to the topic: "Castellanza is a town located in the province of Varese and bordering Busto Arsizio and Legnano (MI). During this period it faced constraints on the development of both cultural and sports activities, as well as leisure pursuits. Nevertheless, despite these limitations, passionate and volunteer citizens are making immense efforts to initiate local endeavors. Currently, fundraising is challenging as the disappearance of large companies, has resulted in the absence of patrons who traditionally financed various activities. It belongs on the page on Castellanza and does not directly relate to USD Castellanzese. It also contains inappropriate style e.g. 'neverthless', incorrect tense, subjectivity ('passionate', 'immense'). It also has no references for any of the content. Limelightangel (talk) 09:42, 19 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Fundamental issues with content & style

edit

The following paragraph has:

  • no references
  • 2 incorrect links out ('fewer than 6000 inhabitants'; 'USD Castellanzese')
  • subjectivity ('boundless passion')
  • inappropriate style ('and finally';'it is essential to mention)
  • chronlogically incorrect content for a section on '1921' ('during these years'; 'in 1950')
  • the heading is incorrect. It is a sub-section in History, not a new section

During those years, the USD Castellanzese included sections dedicated to cycling (the predominant activity due to the founders' boundless passion for the sport), with some presence in athletics, soccer, a motorcycle club, (which had 248 members in 1950), and finally, table tennis. It is essential to mention the names of those who were the founders of this club: the fisrt person is Giuseppe Scandrolio, the founder father, who was supported by key collaborators such as Ercole Airoldi, Alfredo Gamassi, Umberto Baita, and Pierino Albini. See: Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style Limelightangel (talk) 09:57, 19 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Maybe collect the sentences under one topic, and put into one paragraph rather than having three sentences on each row? Rednax11 (talk) 01:30, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Linking

edit
  • Understand what 'overlinking' is e.g. link out to Italy.
  • 2 incorrect links out ('fewer than 6000 inhabitants'; 'USD Castellanzese')

See: Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Linking

Structure

edit
  • '1921' should be a subsection in History, not a new section heading.
  • some of the 1921 content is not specically about '1921'

Translation issues

edit

Review 4/12/23

edit
  • missing InfoBox

Infobox was added by User:Luic1clement Rednax11 (talk) 14:19, 5 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • lack of acceptable images e.g. stadium, players, match programs, historical newspaper exhibits; mascot; logo; etc.
  • there is an over-reliance on a single source for the entire history section (ref. 2)
  • the History has good historical information but there is only 1 sentence for the period 2001 - Present

Is has been sorted by combining the whole period from 1970-present instead

  • incorrect links out to Venice football club; CONI; FIGC

Fixed

  • incorrect link out to Italian page on Castegnate

Fixed

*the link out is wrong, the town name is 'Castegnate', not 'Castegnato'. The link out possible is the italian wikipedia page of Castegnate. Liuc11nicole (talk) 16:56, 7 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • History structure: start with founders and est. of the sports club; put info. on other sports together, not in 2 places; the subheading for 1920s better as 1920 -1930: US Castellanese Sporting Club, or similar;
  • tense: 'are'

Changed tense in text. Rednax11 (talk) 14:18, 5 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • clarity: 'one national march'; 'a lack of goodwill'; 'to this date' (twice); 'during that period'; 'the war'; 'are not documented'; 'in the subsequent years';
  • Union Sportiva Castellanzese is mentioned in the 1970s but has no earlier introduction, English translation or foundation date; its relationship to the USD Castellanza is unclear.

Review 12/12/23

edit
  • 13 minor edits made, mainly grammar
  • image captions: these can be improved to make them more relevant to the topic and for clarity 'off-page' in Wiki commons e.g. 'Alfredo Bovet of the Italian sports club USD Castellanzese, in 1932'; 'Home strip of Italian football club USD Castellanzese'; 'Stadium tribune of "Stadio comunale giovanni provasi' needs to be grammatically corrected and include 'USD Castellanzese'

Fixed for now, but may need continuous improvement as pictures are added

  • the link to Alfredo Bovet needs to be moved to the first use of his name and the later link removed

Done

  • Sponsors in External links need re-formatting for clarity (sponsors name as the link, not URLs)

Fixed - Now all have text and not URL

  • Other in External links: YouTube is incorrectly spelled (and possibly unacceptable as a link - check);

Youtube link has been deleted since it is not known if it is free to use or not La rassegna stampa needs a clear linked name, not a URL;

  • references: where web sources do not have a named author you can use the publishing organisation in the author lastname field of the Cite Web template, or edit the reference to correctly add |last= | in the reference markup e.g. for ref 13: |last=Tutto Campo |- as done correctly for ref. 11.; the 'author' for the several sources from the official site is U.S.D. Castellanzese.

Added the right format to the links to USD Castellanzese. Rednax11 (talk) 16:40, 12 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • reference inconsistency: some have 'in Italian', others do not

Added "in italian" to references. Rednax11 (talk) 15:36, 12 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Has been added

  • check for inconsistencies e.g. 'Neroverde initiative' vs. 'Nero Verde'; 'soccer' vs. 'football'; etc.

Fixed

  • duplicate link out to Castellanza (three times); 'Eccelenza ';

dublicates fixed

  • 30 year gap in 'History'
  • font for first first team squad too small

Fixed

  • I think goal difference format is +44, not 44+ - check

Has been changed

link out made

  • incorrect link out from text to website: Municipal Stadium in Via S.Giovanni

Incorrect linkout removed

  • The Affiliate teams are duplicarted

Fixed

  • are there any images of an actual match or the team playing football?
