Tomahawk (BGM-109) Test Ship

edit

"USS Merrill had the distinction of being the test ship for the installation of the Tomahawk cruise missile system aboard the SPRUANCE Class units"
So I believe she was the first ship to ever fire a Tomahawk - even before a battleship. Also article makes limited mention of deployments in late 1970's and 1980's - was the ship test status limited her to no (or extremely limited deployments?

The USS Merrill returned to fleet rotation in 1985. This point I am sure of since I was a member of the crew at the time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.127.119.227 (talk) 01:23, 2 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

She was a participant shouldn't that be listed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.56.210.195 (talk) 19:42, 18 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
