I'm curious about this ship docking in Charleston, South Carolina on February 12th, 1865, as described in the article. As Charleston did not formally surrender to the Union until February 15, 1865, a Union warship docking in Charleston on February 12th would imply that either the waterfront was already under Union control, or that the date of February 12th is incorrect.
