mascot of the USS Terror
editAn interesting fact of the USS Terror (CM-5) was the mascot. He came aboard the ship in the early days in the pocket of a sailors pea coat. The dog, whose name became Error, eventually had his own service jacket, in which was kept his own rate and number. Chief dog, (AA) 000 000 00. there was a clear record kept of leave, absentees, missing ship, and conduct. he was considered just as much a member of the crew as any other onboard.
