Changing/deleting: "Still today Udit Narayan is considered one of the best play-back singer in Bollywood. He can lend his voice in any kind of music. Though, he trails behind Kumar Sanu but still his music puts a smile on anyone's face. He will keep singing for years to come. A genius like Udit Narayan comes only once."(Nehal khan diehard fan of udit Narayan)

"Today, Udit Narayan is considered one of the best play-black singers in Bollywood."—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.189.136.8 (talk) 03:10, 10 November 2005. (UTC).
Question: Does he really sound like Shah Rukh Khan?! SRK actually did sing a song and his voice is not that great and he sounds nothing like Udit Narayan when he sings. Rather, Udit Narayan's singing voice "matches" closely with SRK's speaking voice, so when SRK opens his mouth to lip sync, people always expect Udit Narayn's voice to come out, the same way that when Raj Kapoor opened his mouth, we all expected Mukesh. So I'm not sure this phrase is really accurate.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Smalek (talk) 20:33, 1 May 2006 (UTC).
Question: What is Udit Narayan's true nationality? Is he legally an Indian or a Nepali? Swapnet 17:25, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Ans : He is pure Nepali.
Introduction
Who says he is better than Asha Bhosle? The author needs to verify his source. There are no citation or references given to back this statement. This is highly irrelevant. I have seen Ashaji on Colors TV intervew Ashaji said Udit Narayan is last telened singer in indian films. after him no other singer come with orignal voice and telend

Claim of 26000 songs
In the lead section, it was mentioned about the singer's 26000 songs which appears to be a false statement since no reliable source validated this claim. So I am removing it and if some editor wants to re-add this claim with a reliable reference, they are more than welcome.Kishfan (talk) 11:34, 19 May 2018 (UTC)
Birthplace
Please take a look at the following sources which says that he was born at Baisi in Supaul district of Bihar, India. Sources: 1 and 2.Thanks. Jakichandan (talk) 00:08, 6 June 2018 (UTC)
- Apparently he told Nepalese media that he was born in Nepal:
- See this Times of India article
- "Born in a little-known village, Bhardah, in Saptari district..."
- "Jha, who was reported by the Indian media as having said that he was born in Baisi village in Bihar's Supaul district, told the Nepali daily Tuesday that he was from Nepal but his mother's home was in Bihar."
- But in this interview with Outlook (an Indian publication), he explicitly says that he was born in Bihar at his mother's native place:
- "in and around Baisi in Supaul district—my mother Bhuvaneshwari Jha’s native place in Bihar where I was born and brought up. She is 98 now. My father, who hailed from Bhadra, a village across the border in the Saptari district of Nepal,"
- utcursch | talk 14:36, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
He again told Indian media (reported by News 18) in 2018 itself that he was born in Supaul district of Bihar. Please see source [2] in my previous comment. Jakichandan (talk) 15:02, 27 July 2018 (UTC) @Utcursch: News 18 even has a Video. Anyone can see if there is a dispute.Thanks. —Jakichandan (talk) 15:08, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
- He was born in Nepal according to his interview with Kantipur ( Nepal's largest magzine ) see: https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/south-asia/Artistes-have-no-borders-Udit-Narayan-tells-Nepal/articleshow/4037648.cms . — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nm2135 (talk • contribs) 05:59, 1 September 2018 (UTC)

- This link doesn't support the statement that "he was born in Nepal according to his interview with Kantipur. It just states that he stated that "he was from Nepal", which is pretty vague. Do you have link to the actual interview? As for [1], it's just one of the several random websites that repeat this claim without stating a source.
- There are several reports that state otherwise:
- IANS [2][3][4][5]: "They say I was born in Nepal, but that's completely false. I was born in a village called Baisi on the Supaul district of Bihar in 1955 at my maternal grandparents' home," Udit said."
- India Today[6]: "I began performing quite early, singing Maithili folk songs when I was barely four or five, at village fairs and such places, in and around Baisi in Supaul district—my mother Bhuvaneshwari Jha’s native place in Bihar where I was born and brought up. She is 98 now. My father, who hailed from Bhadra, a village across the border in the Saptari district of Nepal, was a poor man."

- The links above are not "blogs". "Jha" caste is found in India as well. And you haven't justified your removal of partial Indian descent bit. I'll drop a note at WP:BLPN, WT:IN and WT:NEPAL for a third opinion. utcursch | talk 15:41, 5 September 2018 (UTC)

- The Times of India (22 Mar 2012): "I am a son of Bihar; it is my birthplace and I have very close ties with it as most of my youth has been spent here. I feel proud being a Bihari and also feel lucky for being able to witness the centenary year celebration of the state," Udit Narayan, noted Bollywood singer told TOI on Thursday. [...] Talking about his struggle and journey from Baisi village in Supaul district to Bollywood, Udit said, "I belong to a farmer family and was born in a small village. Indian citizen or Nepalese citizen
Per the source, he is only listed as an Indian citizen. As such, I have changed it here. Unless, a source is found for his Nepalese citizenship, this claim should stay. (Highpeaks35 (talk) 05:12, 18 October 2018 (UTC))
Please edit the page he is a Nepalese playback singer wherever he was born doesn’t matter that he can say whatever he wants . He tells he was born in Nepal to Nepalese media and India to Indian media . [1] [2] . - Not done - See the extensive discussion above, where sources have already been exhaustively listed and weighed. You can definitely participate in that discussion and try to achieve consensus to remove it (ideally with well-reasoned arguments), but a simple edit request is not going to overrule the result. For what it's worth, reviewing the extensive sources listed, I see several direct quotes from Narayan saying he was born in India, and no such quotes supporting a Nepali birthplace. In my opinion, to change the outcome, you would need to find a reliable source with a direct quote of the man saying he's from Nepal, or at least a trustworthy reference to some official document stating the same.
