GA nomination failed/retracted
editMy apologies to Dark Dragon Flame, but although this article is nothing to be ashamed of it's nowhere near GA-class and the nomination was incredibly premature.
I wouldn't be comfortable with passing it even if some of the more obvious errors (like the over the top battle details and lack of out-of-universe info) were corrected, because we know very little about Ulquiorra's actual character. It's a nice informative B-class piece, which is about all an article on a recently introduced figure in a manga series can hope to be. --tjstrf talk 01:34, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
Removed unless someone can substantiate this:
edit"He also has a slight crush on Orihime, following with Luppi."
Seems like random BS to me. Can anyone confirm this? 75.0.189.52 00:33, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
- It's vandalism. Check the page history. Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 00:51, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
New Image
editCan anyone get a better image than just a head? Thank you! Hartebeest 04:22, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- There are really no important details on the rest of his body. –Gunslinger47 05:57, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- Perhaps an image showing more of his broken helmet...
- Or one that matches the page? It says his lines are Cyan in it, but in the picture they are Green. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.142.130.11 (talk) 07:16, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- Clearly, the lines descending from his eyes have the same green color of his irises. It has always been that way throughout the anime. I'd like to just assume that it was a mistake, although it seems to have a source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.244.64.118 (talk) 08:54, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
English VA
editSeeing as the Wii game has been released here in the US, does anyone know who the voice actor for him is?
Alright, unfortunate as it is, Ulquiorra isn't even in the credits in the game, but thankfully to obvious comparisons, its more or less "confirmed" Steven Blum is the voice actor...but, does anyone else here have evidence that states otherwise? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.188.24.125 (talk) 04:27, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
Obvious comparisons?! Play the game. It's not Blum at all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.179.236.87 (talk) 07:38, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
Well...from the looks of someone's edit...it looks like it's Blum again. ^^;
Please do not add that it's Blum unless you can cite evidence. Which will be kinda hard, considering it's not friggin' him! 71.179.162.159 (talk) 07:01, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
And you would know this...how? Sure sounds exactly, and I mean EXACTLY like him when he speaks, and it's also the type of quiet character he's done (Moses - Blood+). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.120.97.162 (talk) 05:41, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Okay...I have to go and play Schiffer-kun on my friend's wii, but before anything is officially announced, leave it as Uncredited. IceUnshattered (talk) 00:41, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
Well, if you've heard any decent number of Blum's roles, you'll be able to tell it's him. Besides, David Vincent is still credited for his role in the game on the Grimmjow page. 26 February 20008 (UTC)
Not only have I heard his appearances, I own the damn game. It's not him. Doesn't sound anything like him. Steve Blum does not do all the stoic man voices in anime, people. As for David Vincent, he's actually CREDITED in the game. 71.179.162.159 (talk) 10:28, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
The ACTUAL voice is that of Sephiroth from Advent Children, i have no doubts now after listening to his fully completed sound bank entries without the music! And whoever keeps adding Steven Jay Blum's name there should be reported and banned. Murakumo-Elite (talk) 05:31, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
You've lost your mind Marukumo-Elite. Keep vandalizing, and it's you who'll be reported. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.188.24.37 (talk) 23:17, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
While I do have my doubts that it is George Newbern, I can find nothing anywhere crediting Blum to the role. Unfortunately, it seems as if he doesn't have his own site, which means I've pretty much had to rely on sites that would probably going off the game credits. Also, I happen to be a very big fan of Steve Blum. Most shows he's been in I own DVDs or video games of. I also someone who play Shattered Blade frequently (in fact I just stopped played it little more than an hour ago). Ulquiorra does not sound like any deep-voiced role Blum has ever done. His voice tends to be more gravelly. It is possible he has excellent range and it is him, since it sounds very little like him and since nothing official has been announced, it would be downright foolish to say he was voiced by Blum. Now, I don't own any FF7 past the original because I think it's idiotic how FF7 is being milked for all it's got, but I went ahead and found some clips of Sephiroth is Advent Children. While it doesn't sound exactly like Ulquiorra, it sounds closer than Blum to me, so I have changed it to George Newbern for the time being. However, to prevent further conflict, I'm beginning to think it would be wiser to not credit anyone to the English until someone can cite an official statement. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.116.185.196 (talk) 16:18, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Last name
editCan anyone provide a source for the Cifer transliteration? Gunslinger provided one, but I haven't been able to find the transliteration on the website, even though I can read and understand what the links say. Can someone provide a more precise link or screenshot? -- Ynhockey (Talk) 10:41, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
- No, since it's in flash, you can't simply copy the url of the specific page (at least not that i know of). anyway, just click on the "characters" page and click on ulqi, his name should be romanized at the bottomright -Twsl (talk) 12:44, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
- Right, it was the bottom links. I didn't even think those were links, thanks for the heads up. In any case, I noticed that with Hitsugaya, the name was spelt Toushiro, as in the official character book SOULs. Considering we have so far completely disregarded the SOULs transliterations, is this case not the same? -- Ynhockey (Talk) 21:11, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
- It is also interesting to know that this page, also from an official game AFAIK, spells it Schiffer. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 21:15, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
That it does; I took screenshots: http://usera.imagecave.com/WalkerTheRipper/WW/variation1.png In case anyone still wants it, here's the other: http://usera.imagecave.com/WalkerTheRipper/WW/variation2.png As I've said before, the last name "Cifer" is contradictory towards the pronunciation...and more or less seeing as 3rd Phantom is written by Kubo Tite himself, I'd say Schiffer is the right one. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.188.25.23 (talk) 02:24, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
I edited in response to an anonymous posting here: Talk:List of Bleach hollows#Ulquiorra CIFER. I'm not biased towards the Cifer romanization if an alternative published romanization is available. Ynhockey mentioned that we are disregarding SOULs' spelling so far, so this might be reason to use the 3rd Phantom spelling. –Gunslinger47 20:59, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
If you haven't checked, I provided both. With a wee bit of help through pronunciation, as well as common-frickin-sense, honestly tell me which romanization makes more sense... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.188.25.23 (talk) 02:34, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
Technically neither Cifer nor Schiffer violate romanization rules for Shifaa, although Schiffer does make more sense, and many English-speakers would assume that Cifer was pronounced SAI-fer, which is not the intention. I will now begin to change back all the transliterations to Schiffer, as there seems to be a consensus here. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 20:30, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Yep. As I said before, if its indeed "Cifer", its nothing more than a small romanization error of "Ćifer." Lets wait it out to see what the real correct term would be. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.188.25.23 (talk) 09:59, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
"CIFER" was removed ! 82.50.39.128 (talk) 14:14, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- I think it's interesting to note that in the anime he doesn't pronounce it as Shifaa, with the first part rhyming with sky, but Shiifa, like the word "shipper" but with an F sound instead of a P sound.
Sorry if that didn't make sense; I was just making a note of the pronounciation, but you can hear it yourself if you watch episode 162. Kyouraku-taichou (talk) 03:42, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
