Factual Inaccuracies within the Program

They don't use the SA80s 'cause they say it's an ineffective weapon. So they're free to use any firearm that they can use. 70.68.46.180 02:02, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Andy McNab described the L85 (SA80) as a Rolls Royce prototype in his book Bravo Two Zero, not an "ineffective weapon". The SAS have a tradition of sticking with battle-proven weapons that they have experience with, rather than taking risks with anything new (they used the FIM-92 Stinger in the Falklands War rather than take chances with the British built Blowpipe missile). The "M16 lookalikes" favoured by the Regiment are Diemaco C7 SFWs, not M4 carbines. 194.203.110.127 08:46, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

"Each Sabre Squadron is divided into four 16-man Troops with different responsibilities (Air Troop, Boat Troop, Mobility Troop, and Mountain Troop). The CRW Wing is made up of one squadron, which rotates every 6–9 months. The squadron is split up into two troops:

• Red Troop (Air and Mountain Troops)
• Blue Troop (Boat and Mobility Troops)

artistic license.

Give them some artistic license for gods sake, most people don't know how the SAS is organised. Using the RED/BLUE Troop system is easier for the viewer to follow and allows for the RED/BLUE troop rivalry. Oh and how come under 'Criticisims' on the UF page no one has challenged the non neutral proclomation and I quote "and down-right boring plot"?

Series 4

For reference, I got this response when I again queried with ITV if/when Ultimate Force would return to ITV, and whether it would be prior to Series 4 being released on DVD in July.

"Thank you for your recent email regarding ULTIMATE FORCE. Unfortunately we are unable to provide any transmission details for the remaining episode(s) of the above programme. I am very sorry for any disappointment. Regards DUTY OFFICER - PR"

And the bad news is that DVD release is now 25 September 2006 (in UK) according to Play.com. so I guess they won't release it till it's been shown on ITV......Greenpeas 15:14, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

It now has been released, with a red sticker proclaiming "DVD exclusive, three unseen episodes." Make me wonder when the ITV will show the rest.?Greenpeas 11:38, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

About the Season 3 changes

I think the article could do with more info on why such major characters were killed off for this series. It only mentions their deaths briefly. Jamie and Pete in particular were characters extensively built up in the first and second series and Jamie's development was a focal point of the series, and the sub plot with his abusive father/autistic brother was important... so why were they killed off? Was it to do with the actors decided not to appear, or were they axed? Anyone got any info on this apart from Chris Ryan's departure?Xzamuel 18:14, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

I've just been rewatching the DVDs and at the start of series 3, they lose no less than six characters (the three SAS men killed in Iraq, plus Caroline, Pru and Pete's wife). Now if one or two cast members leave a series it's usually because they want to move on. But this many? Leaving only Henno, Louis and the Colonel. This seems to me to be a production decision rather than the actors, especially with the format change to 75 minute action rather than 50 minute drama. None of the interviews/extras on the DVDs refer to the reasons why, nor have I seen anything in the press.

• There's going to be little on the internet about the cast leaving, other than gossip on IMDB and that doesn't count, beyond stumbling onto a review with Jamie Draven discussing it, it's unlikely there's anything specific out there.

Cancellation

I wasn't aware that the series had been axed till I saw the update (anyone have any verification of this). I'm not surprised though given ITV's love of reality tv, suppose they have to make room for the next series of "I'm an X factor celebrity, get me out of love island" or whatever.(edit) cheaper to make reality shows Given ITV's obvious disdain for the series, shown by the erratic schedules, perhaps the'll replace it with a gentle Sunday series looking at army life at a small rural barracks in the 60s complete with nostalgic music!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, all that is going to be left on ITV is the two soaps (Emmerdale and Coronation Street) and all the reality shows. It really puts you off the channel, and its a shame for the programme, yes, its may have started too get bad through the middle, but in the last series it did start to get better, mainly in the last three episodes. If this was an Americian 'show' it would be in its tenth season, of 23 episodes, not 6. I feel quite sad that it has been supposidly axed, maybe ITV will bring it back? Its doubtfull that another channel will buy the show out, though it would be good, and has happened before. I also read the other day 'Rosemary and Thyme' had also been axed, this was also a good programme, and I assumed with a high amount of viewers. Nick Charlton 17:54, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Errors
