editI have a problem with the words "intensely black background", which refer to nothing really precise. I would rather talk of "a very absorptive and non reflecting medium". In the same line of thought, one should remember that a black body is black in the sense that it only emit thermal light, but otherwise it radiates (emit light). To a good approximation, the sun is a black body.
"intensely" (as in a black background) is subjective and not given parameters as to when "intensely" complies. "very" as in absorbative suffers from the same attributes. Non-reflecting however is clear and binary. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.173.17.11 (talk) 22:42, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
