Jamal
I find it strange that Jamal redirects here, as there have been many more significant people named Jamal throughout history. It also precludes the possibility of an article on the name itself.
interference of macth with Cena
edge really didnt interference he just came down so really he didnt interference
- so edge running in the ring at cena wasn't interfering then
summerslam speculation problem
"He may show up at Summerslam to help Vince and Shane against DX." This is a problem saying this statement because it has not happened yet it is only a prediction and I don't think its encylopedic enough to add in unless it is actually going to happen for sure.
Ironically enough it happened. Serves you right Wikipedia for taken our jobs.
Push?
Can we validate the "he may fight Batista" or "WWE considers pushing him" statement? Cuz if we can't then I suggest we take it down since its pretty irrelevant to everything else in the article. Slapslapslap 04:03, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
Flying Sausage?
No one's ever referred to that move as a "flying sausage", unless it was during his Jamal/Emko periods. I think we'd be better off calling it a Top Rope Splash Cheers, Dubbya9 06:47, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
It was his indy name for the move. There are more citations for it than Wild Samoan Splash, which I have not heard it ever actually called.
I dont think it should be listed until it's cited... Which it doesnt appear to be. I've heard of that move before, but never heard it be called the "flying sausage". It sounds like vandalism to me, however i could easily be wrong. =-)--Cookie 08:09, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
Since it was the indy name, I haven't found much in the way of citations. The best I can find was his listing on wrestlingencyclopedia.com
Can you possibly sign your comments so i know who's writing? I'd feel better that way lol. Anyway, maybe we should list the flying sausage thing but say it is either the Indy name for the move, or it needs to be cited? Something like that? The way it is now seems alright to me. --Cookie 20:37, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
CITING PLEASE.
"Eddie Fatu (born March 28, 1973 in Samoa) is a Samoan professional wrestler currently performing for World Wrestling Entertainment's (WWE's) RAW brand under the ring name Umaga (the Tagalog word for "morning").
Has this Tagalog word been confirmed as the origin of the WWE character name? This appears irrelevant and misguided.
Tagalog is a Philippine language. It is not spoken in Samoa.
- Correct, I'm Filipino and I know Tagalog, the name has nothing to do with the Tagalog word. Patriarch 10:13, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
Eddie Fatu is Samoan. Umaga's manager Armando Allejandro Estrada calls him "Samoan," The much more likely attribution is Tana Umaga, the New Zealand-born Samoan captain of the New Zealand All Blacks. Tana Umaga still plays competitive rugby, but retired from the All Blacks last year.
Cyber Sunday
Even though I do understand that rumors and speculated news isn't applicable for Wikipedia, I don't understand why we cannot have important confirmed future events in a superstar's profile. If Wikipedia isn't mean't for that, then can someone please explain why future events have articles for them? Such as Cyber Sunday, that has a 2007 part up even though it's not even close to that date. Why isn't that deleted? Or how about any other future event? If this isn't for future events, then why is there articles on them not being deleted? I understand that a superstar's profile is about major events of that person's life, but isn't ppv's that are going to happen in the near future have something to do with the superstar? Im just wondering about all of this. Thanks. 5aret 23:45, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- We, meaning The Pro Wreslting Wikiproject, don't list future events because of the ever changing nature of pro-wrestling. It was decided forever ago. The location of Cyber Sunday 2007 is unlikely to change, considering they have to book the building/ppv date so far in advance. That's not a good argument. -- bd (talk to me) (watch me) 00:06, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Unnecessary reversion
I just posted a note about the prominent angle Umaga has been involved in over the past month with McMahon, Trump, and Lashley with NO mention of Wrestlemania whatsoever.... and it got deleted. Ridiculous. I really want to hear Bdve's explanation for this one. Doc502 20:06, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- Since Umaga has not gotten any particular press in the matter the match itself falls under the category of "future event" and any deatiling of the feud at this point is week by week. «»bd(talk stalk) 21:33, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- Who said he needed press to raise his profile? Besides having been a #1 contender vs. Cena, now he's partnering with the top guy in the company, Mr. McMahon. That, to me, further establishes him as a top figure at least on RAW. Also, I didn't do a week by week recap. My summation was of the past month of storylines. Further, there was no mention of the upcoming WM23 match... Shenanigans. I fear this policy of not talking about future events, while well intentioned, is now affecting other content that is perfect reasonable for publication here. Doc502 03:49, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
WrestleMania match?
Why are we informed on the main page that we shouldn't add the WrestleMania match despite it being in the mainstream news as well as just in the wrestling world? Surely it can at least be announced that Umaga will be a participant in the Battle of the Billionaires match. TheDingbat 22:59, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
Announced matches that have not yet occurred do not go into articles per WP:PW policy. The match will be duly noted in the article after is has occurred. Bmg916 Speak to Me 23:02, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
- As it has — that said, I had made a WP:GF revision regarding the WM23 match between Umaga-Lashley, but it was revised with the editor's explanation, "(T)he WM 23 match does not warrant its own section or a blow by blow of events and the match." In response, this section never had a blow-by-blow account of the feud. My revision only stated that they had feuded for several weeks on television; to me, "blow by blow" means "Wrestler X did this one week, and Wrestler Y retailiated the next time," and so on (which Wikipedia must avoid). The brief explanation of the feud was given to give context to their WM23 match, and then the outcome (although it could be trimmed if restored) to finish the article. Also, this match received considerable media coverage in part because of Donald Trump's involvement. So who's correct? Thanks for your remarks. Briguy52748 17:06, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- To avoid any unnecessary lengthening of the article, only the primary info about the match (hair vs. hair, represented a billionaire), when it occurred (WrestleMania), and the outcome (Umaga losing) is added. Any details about the ending of the match don't matter, only the outcome itself does. Anything about Austin stunning Donald, etc belongs in their respective articles as it focuses on them, not Umaga. Bmg916SpeakSign 17:16, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- Bmg – Thanks for your reply. I still feel the original could be better written even with just the minimum information (which was also a reason behind my earlier edit). BTW, as a point of clarity — my edit never did say anything about Austin stunning Donald (which was, as you correctly point out, would be irrelevant; and I'm unaware if a previous edit did); my edit did state Austin stunned Umaga before the finish. Briguy52748 17:29, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think your edit mentioned anything about Austin stunning Donald, but a previous one did. But as for Austin stunning Umaga, it can't go in only because it would be taken out on the grounds that "it doesn't matter how, it just matters that it did [happen]". If you feel you can write a better slimmed down version, feel free. I still don't think it warrants it's own section though, because in five years, it wont be that big a deal as it is now. Bmg916SpeakSign 17:33, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, you may be right on that one (the match not really mattering in five years). Guess you're better at foresight than I am. Briguy52748 18:37, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Family Matters
Although this is just a general comment, I am impressed with Eddies versitility in the ring. Especially for a wrestler of his physique! I understand he is from an extensive wrestling family background, and wondered if the family should be linked with the article on him in some way, or if the wrestling family should be added to the article in some way? opinions please! Main picture
Which TNA belt is he holding in the main picture? It doesn't mention him ever holding a TNA belt in his list of achievements. Poison-System-X 20:30, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
That picture was more then likely taken during the June 29th PWA Tag Team Explosion show. The main event was Team 3d (TNA tag champs as of then) vs Booker T & Dawg Chetum. I remember reading online that Umaga came down and cleared the ring after that match. Why he even touched that belt as a WWE superstar is beyond me, but maybe it was a contract re-negoiation ploy. I dont really think it should be used as a main pic since he has never held that title. Fisha695 01:36, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Sometimes they make such turns when they ran out of rivals. His main rival was suspended in accordance to WWE wellness policy, and his two recent rivals before that are both injured. GA Nomination on hold
Alright I’m gonna go ahead and put this GA Nomination on hold and give people a week or so to look at all the problems I’ve encountered with this article. If the problems can’t be resolved within the week I’ll go ahead and fail it and then you can renominate once the problems are solved. Below is my inital comments, more may appear during the week but this way you can get working on improving it.
- Major Issue: One of the criterias for GA is ”broad in coverage” and well this article is soly and totally about Eddie Fatu the wrestler, nothing about Eddie Fatu the person (only a line about his family heritage basically). I know it’s usually not easy to find but there’s got to be SOMETHING about him out there, it’d help the ”broadness” of the article greatly.
- Major Issue: Speaking of ”Broad in coverage”, this article is 90% about his time as ”Umaga”, everything before that is either totally neglected or only mentioned in passing. The following needs to be added/expanded to give a broader representation of Eddie Fatu’s career – he’s not just Umaga after all.
- His career from 1995 until 2002 doesn’t even get a word, not one he just shows up in the WWE in 2002, that’s not right.
- His first run in the WWE needs at least a bit more detail.
- His first run in WWE is detailed in the 3 Minute Warning article«»bd(talk stalk) —The preceding signed but undated comment was added at 20:29, August 25, 2007 (UTC).
- Then it's easily fixed isn't it? just use the main tag and direct readers there and that problem is solved. MPJ-DK 20:50, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
- DoneI'm ashamed that didn't even cross my mind.«»bd(talk stalk) 01:49, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
- Then it's easily fixed isn't it? just use the main tag and direct readers there and that problem is solved. MPJ-DK 20:50, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

- His run with AJPW needs to be more than 2 lines. Just look at his acomplishments and see that he won the ”World’s Strongest Tag League” in 2004, that’s not a small accomplishment in Japan. It needs expanding.
- The lead text mentions facts about Eddie Fatu that’s not touched upon in the main text, see WP:Lead for more.
- Since this article is about a person please add
PLEASE SEE WP:PDATA!
along with the required parameters to the article - see Wikipedia:Persondata for more information.- Done
- this article has some problems with the “in universe” aspects of wrestling. By that I mean that it at times blurs the lines between what’s real and what’s basically scripted. It just needs minor touches here and there to signal that “yes we do acknowledge that this stuff is scripted and present it as such”, if you’re in doubt then maybe check out the Bobby Eaton article that suffered from the same problems initially but had them fixed in their GA process.
- The intro needs to be sourced, even if it’s mentioned later the first time something is mentioned it’s generally best to source it.
- Consider splitting the following sentence up and have one be about his family relations (and HOW he’s a part of it) and have one be about his tag team career He is a member of the Anoa'i wrestling family, and before his current WWE role, Fatu frequently worked the independent circuit as part of tag team variously named The Island Boyz and the Samoan Gangstas — with his cousin Matt Anoa'i with Fatu using the name Ekmo and Anoa'i going by Kimo. The text also fails to mention that they performed as ”3 Minute Warning”
- Done
- References should generally be at the end of a sentence not in the middle of it – the sentence The team lasted just shy of a year, with Jamal being released from his WWE contract in June 2003,[2] reportedly after his involvement in a bar fight.[4] should IMO have [2][4] at the end of the sentence instead of how it is now.
- Done
- TNA Section is totally unsourced, got to have at least one source per section.
- All Japan wrestling: An approximate date/month he moved on to AJPW?
- The first mention of him in All Japan on OOW is on March 20 2005, but that would still leave over 2 years unaccounted for as the article currently reads. Hrm. --Naha|(talk) 20:51, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
- Independents: If “Nu-Wrestling Evolution” is important enough to mention maybe a few words about what he did while working there?
- The line However, in December 2005, he announced he would be returning to World Wrestling Entertainment and gave notice to AJPW. Doesn’t seem right in the ”Independents” section, consider putting AJPW & Independents together so that each section isn’t just 2-3 lines. (if you significantly expand both sections ignore this comment)
- Done - for the moment.
- There is no need to put “(2005 - )” in the header for the WWE when the very next line & subheader is “2005-2006” it just clutters it up.
- Done
- Has it been confirmed that “Umaga” is named after the tatooing process? Or is this just the only use for the term “Umaga” in Samoan?
- I think it's only for the tern Umaga in Samoan, but I'm not quite sure.
- Estrada interrupted in the middle of a promo to tell how much of a fan of his he used to be, but that now he was old and needed to retire consider an alternative that makes it clear when it’s Estrada and when it’s Flair that’s meant (his he used to be?)
- It was in offering the fans a new "hero" to watch that he introduced Umaga, who proceeded to beat down Flair – I know the intentions in the sentence but it’s poorly worded.
- various jobbers,[13][14], until he dispatched no commas around the citations.
- Done
- committing the occasional sneak attack – An example would be nice here
- amassing a sizable undefeated streak – ”sizable” is hard to get a handle on, can you define it better? The source cited (Online world of wrestling) isn’t any help on what ”sizable” is, it also there is no mention of his ”undefeated streak” on OWW. If read by a non-wrestling fan then the ”Undefeated streak” (as Umaga) lasted from April 3 until Shawn Michaels defeated him by DQ on April 17. The source needs to support the statement, this one doesn’t really.
- Removed.
- The first time a WWE PPV is mentioned there is no brief explanation that’s it’s a Pay Per View or anything, remember this isn’t directed at just wrestling fans – we’re not a wrestling site but a general information site.
- Consider revising at least the first half of this sentence Kane and Umaga feuded for the next two months — alternating the upper hand, but with Umaga never actually losing a match — until Umaga won a Loser Leaves RAW match, sending Kane off of the brand
- Changed.
- Independent clause issues: After being separated by different brands, Umaga and Kane had one final match at Cyber Sunday where Umaga again defeated Kane after fans selected him over Chris Benoit and The Sandman to be Umaga's opponent for the night
- Umaga, still undefeated, was then needs to explain how he can be labelled as such after being on the losing side in several matches mentioned in the sources.
- Reworded.
- Again references at the end of the line, not in the middle as in the roll-up, officially ending his streak[20] which had lasted
- Done
- Independent clause issues with the sentence starting with Cena retained his belt at
- There is no citation for when Umaga’s streak was officially ended or how many matches it included, it really needs to to not be original research.
- For the rest of the month, Estrada played down Cena's victory, claiming it was a fluke, until a Last Man Standing rematch was signed for the next pay-per-view, the Royal Rumble – Reading that Estrada stopped claiming it was a fluke once the match was signed. Following that logic he admitted it wasn’t a fluke after that?
- On an episode of RAW between the two shows maybe be more specific and say the two Pay Per views so that people aren’t unsure of what ”shows” this refers to.
- Changed.
- There’s got to be a better way to handle the terms “kayfabed” and “worked”, they’re very wrestling specific terms and throwing them out in a parenthesis doesn’t help anyone who’s not into the wrestling lingo.
- More problems with citations in the middle of the sentence in the sentence starting with After Bobby Lashley was named Trump's
- Done
- And again the very next sentence.
- Done
- I think that the Santino Marella title win needs a few more words to explain the angle leading up to it – as it reads it sounds like Amrella jumped the rails and pinned Umaga or something. Expand on it a little, give it more flow.
- Clarification on how the team won the ECW title for Vince please.
- “In Wrestling” – my personal opinion is that the nicknames section should be removed and incorporated into the text instead, that way this section doesn’t appear too “listy”.
- Under championships and accomplishments: the World Entertainment Wrestling organization isn’t separate from FMW any more than “IWGP” is separate from NJPW and thus should be one link.
- Sources, from #12 and forward, the sources covering the majority of his time as Umaga they’re all just results coverage (except the OWW link which is a collection of results) – isn’t there ANYTHING other than results coverage of his time as Umaga?
That’s my initial findings, I may add more as I go over the article again (and please if anyone else has comments I implore you to list them here, improvement comes from input). Anything you need explained or anything just let me know, otherwise I look forward to seeing the progress on the article. MPJ-DK 19:03, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for these comments, I might need some help from WP:PW as there are a huge amount of comments here. If anyone else can help with this, I would be very greatful. I'll continue to change and add to the article over the coming days. Davnel03 19:41, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
I'm noticing a problem with the "stable article" part of the criteria as well, outside of the GA reccomendation fixes I see a significant amount of reversing going on as well, it's not critical but it's not positive either. MPJ-DK 17:29, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
GA Review notification
I’ve been watching this article and while plenty of points have been addressed there are still four major issues with this article that’ll have to be addressed before I could even beging to think about promoting it to GA.
- ”Broad in coverage” issue, it’s only about the wrestler and nothing else
- ”Broad in coverage” issue 2, what is there is 90% about his time as Umaga, the first 7 years of his career isn’t even mentioned with a single word and everthing but his time as Umaga is only touched upon extremly briefly
- ”In universe” problems.
- The overwhelming majority of the citations are about events in general not Umaga as such, sources specifically on Eddie Fatu would help greatly.
Those are the four biggest issues I see with the article, not that the other points shouldn’t be addressed but these leap out at me saying that right now this article is not ready for GA. If no significant improvements have been made to those three areas by Friday I will be forced to go ahead and fail it. Then you don’t have a deadline hanging overhead and can work on the article in your own time, eventually getting it to where it can be renominated. I think that’s fair warning. MPJ-DK 19:28, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Factual error
According to the wrestle crap book (among others) Samu and Lloyd Anoa'i were the "Samoan Gangster Party" that watched Fatu but never got anywhere, they also competed briefly in ECW under that name. The Slam wrestling biography is actually wrong on this account, I even have tapes from back then and I recognized Samu at the time. I know the source supports it, but sources aren’t always infallible and I’d be remised if I didn’t point it out. MPJ-DK 08:22, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
GA Fail
In agreement with Davnel03 who's really been pushing to improve this article (and made great improvements I must say) I've decided to fail this article for now. It's got work left to be done and now it's a target because of the suspension rumors as well. Once the article stabilizes and the last problems are addressed I'd encourage to put it forward again. I'll also be happy to provide input & suggestions while the article is improved - although I can't "re-review" it next time since I'd not be an unbiased party any more. I do commend everyone who's added positivly to this article, it's in much much better shape than when I started to review it. MPJ-DK 09:48, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
Ringname confirmation
In the October 2007 edition of WWE Magazine, page 44 "Everything You Wanted to Know About Samoa" (with a picture of Umaga standing there) says UMAGA: (oo-mah-gah) (n) "The end" of the painful process of receiving a traditional Samoan pe'a tattoo, which is inked using, not needles, but sharpened boar's teeth fastened to tortoise shells; a process that takes up to three months to finish.
I know there was some debate about where his name came from in the past, but this WWE magazine articles confirms it. I'm getting gradually more and more annoyed with how inline citations are done these days, and how you can't even read the article when you open up to edit it because there is so much reference text all over the place, so if someone else will please add this info in and reference it using the above information, that would be great. Thanks. --Naha|(talk) 21:46, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- You have the magazine in hand, you should be doing the adding.«»bd(talk stalk) 23:11, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- The entire reason I've posted this information is because it was highly debated in the past. When I stumbled across it, I felt it was my duty to inform whoever it may concern that a valid source now exists. I've politely asked someone else to do it, providing all information that I believe is needed. My relationship with the current method of inline citation is, right now, disgusted at best. As such, I currently prefer to focus my efforts to improve Wikipedia in other areas. Thanks, --Naha|(talk) 23:17, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

This article does not make it clear that the character Jamal was in WWE during 2003 including the Royal Rumble match up —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.142.243.95 (talk) 19:59, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
- It says very clearly that he was in the company in 2003 and that more information on that is at the 3 Minute Warning page. Here or there being one of the random Royal Rumble guys isn't notable.«»bd(talk

- No, I mean in the contents of the article, a user may click "World Wrestling Entertainment" to see his career there. That takes you to 2005. It is not clear at ALL that he was in WWE in 2003, unless you carefully read the article above that section. "Team with Matt Anoa'i" should be split so there is WWE - 2003
- That section is not solely about their WWE run nor is it long enough to break it up to do so. that information is in the main link, which is it's purpose. The WWE section clearly says it's about his career there beginning in 2005 and has "re-signed" in the first sentence.«»bd(talk stalk) 22:20, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Personal
I am a newbie really, and would like to research more about Eddie personally, such as if he is married, kids, etc. What he likes doing for fun! It seem to me the article has an awful lot about Eddie the wrestler and 'character' but very little about Eddie the person. Can anyone point me in the right direction to get citable reference information on this area? Sparkyboi (talk) 02:09, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
- That's the problem with wikipedia, you look for Eddie Fatu, and you end up reading irrelevant information about what characters he played were made to do in their respective companies. If I look up Sean Connery, I don't want to read about how Mr Bond used a harpoon or skied down a mountain. This article about Eddie has very little to do with Eddie in it, just characters he was assigned and pretend to be. Needs a complete rewrite. Apparently Eddies biography section is one paragraph long. Pathetic.
- The thing is, there are no KNOWN reliable sources for anything about Eddie Fatu's personal life. If you find one, feel free to edit the article accordingly, as long as it follows WP:V. Gavyn Sykes (talk) 00:13, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
