Single and release date
editFirst point I want to make is that under no circumstance should a premiere be counted as a release. October 16 is not a viable date for a promo single release, as it has been cited that an actual promo was sent on October 22. October 16 was merely the day "Unconditionally" was first played on the radio as a premiere. Second point I want to make is that a single release of "Unconditionally" is set for release on November 22, 2013 in Germany. However, this is NOT represented by putting October 16 or October 22 as the release date of the single'. The single will be released on November 22, 2013. Radio releases occurred on October 22 and November 5. A single release will occur on November 22. This should be the date cited as the release of the single as, obviously, it's the release date of the single.
Also, please stop casually reverting my edits without ever giving one bit of word as to why you reverted it or why it wasn't a good enough edit. That's just rude. Especially when you've done it three times! And no, "Correction" isn't an excuse. That's just arrogance.

- On the contrary, the reviewers listed in the article indicate that the song was released as a single October 16th. Besides, since it has already charted, that clearly indicates it has been released. XXSNUGGUMSXX (talk) 01:53, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
- Source to where one can obtain an "Unconditionally" single? Songs can chart on the strength of Digital downloads from albums and airplay from radio as well, you know.

- iTunes as a digital download. One can easily download the track by itself without the rest of the album on there.
- XXSNUGGUMSXX (talk) 02:07, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
- So you're saying the other 11 tracks on this album are singles as well? It's released as part of the album, not as a single. Hence, the track is "from the album Prism", not Unconditionally - Single.

- Not exactly what I meant. It has been available for purchase by itself as a lone track since October 22. Besides, if it hadn't already been released as a single, it's unlikely that the lyric video would've come out as soon as it did. As mentioned, reviewers have indicated that it was officially released October 16, though it was originally scheduled to be released October 22. See the following links:

- I should also mention that being released as a lone download on Amazon doesn't really count as a release if it has previously been released in any other way, shape, or form. Also, keep this in mind: the album's previous single "Roar" was released on August 10, 2013, but wasn't available for download until two days later.
- XXSNUGGUMSXX (talk) 17:54, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
- I should mention again that October 16 was just a date for when "Unconditionally" was premiered on the radio. A primary source that tells us that a promo was indeed sent out on October 22 is the All Access website that listed "Unconditionally" for an October 22, 2013 release to Top 40/Mainstream radio, otherwise known as Contemporary hit radio. Your secondary sources can say anything, but they all don't correspond to this viable proof that it was actually released on October 22. Websites almost all the time mistake a single for something else, thus, nearly all secondary sources such as Billboard, Contactmusic.com or anything that is not an official source or retailer shouldn't be trusted. Additionally, "Roar" was released as a single on iTunes on August 12. August 10, again, is just a radio premiere date, which, again, doesn't even qualify as a promotional release, let alone a single release. But that's way besides the point. An article about a single should list the release date of the single. October 16 was a radio premiere, October 22 is a promo release. November 22, however, is the day a single is released in Germany. Therefore, November 22 should be listed. Unless, of course, you can prove otherwise that a single release had occurred earlier, keeping in mind the actual music industry definition of the word single.

- However viable the source you provided might be, for some reason Wikipedia generally prefers the use of (reliable) secondary sources when available over primary sources. I completely understand why you would believe that link would trump the ones I provided, though.

Unconditionally (song) → Unconditionally – Nothing else called Unconditionally. Unreal7 (talk) 20:52, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
- Support move to Unconditionally as WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, which I think was what was intended by the nominator, who accidentally posted a non-move suggestion. I have corrected the record to reflect that understanding. After looking around a bit, I found a couple of other songs and added them to the Unconditional dab page, but they seem nowhere near this article in terms of notability or significant depth of coverage. —BarrelProof (talk) 05:34, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
- I second this. Prism △ 23:27, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

GAN
edit@XXSNUGGUMSXX: While you certainly had the best of intentions with this nomination, let's not nominate this for a while. It is hardly ready for GA, as it needs expansion on almost every section and isn't structured very well. I have been working on it in my user space and as soon as my version is ready, I will post it onto the article, and then if everyone agrees, I'll nominate it. Prism △ 23:24, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
- Would you mind co-nominating it together at a later time, perhaps? XXSNUGGUMSXX (talk) 23:31, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
- I wouldn't mind it at all. If you want to, I'll give you my sandbox link of the song's article. Prism △ 23:35, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
- By all means, yes! XXSNUGGUMSXX (talk) 23:36, 8 March 2014 (UTC)

Recording
edit@SNUGGUMS: I skimmed the page well before reverting. Nowhere in the article does it support 2013 as being the recording date. Writing and recording are two separate activities. The recording parameter is for the dates a track is recorded. Οἶδα (talk) 03:06, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
- I thought the math here was obvious when an April 2013 trip inspired this track (which came out six months later), hence my addition of 2013, though I couldn't tell you the exact month of writing and recording. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 03:08, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
- I believe your "math" would constitute WP:SYNTHESIS. Οἶδα (talk) 03:17, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
- On the contrary, WP:CALC allows routine calculations involving basic arithmetic. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 03:25, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
- Such a consensus is troubled by the text merely stating "She also mentioned that she wrote the song bearing in mind the sentiments she had felt during her UNICEF humanitarian trip to Madagascar in April 2013." This is not simple arithmetic. The article also indicates other inspirations. At the very least you are deducing that writing continued through April 2013. You are saying we can assume that some instance of recording occurred at least in or sometime after April 2013. But from the information provided in the article thus far, we do not know when recording began and when it ended. The recording of the album apparently began in November 2012. The article also indicates the track was recorded across 4 different studios. Songs can be workshopped and recorded gradually over any amount of time. There are underlying unknowns here. So why even make the declarative parameter of "2013"? Just let the prose speak for itself. Οἶδα (talk) 04:03, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
- My apologies; the idea of workshopping drafts/early editions over longer amounts of time admittedly hadn't crossed my mind, especially when the none of the inspirations I've found so far were from 2012 or earlier. "By the Grace of God" also was the only Prism song I knew for certain got recorded that November. I'll do more digging later and that might help pinpoint a timeframe. - Sounds good. Οἶδα (talk) 04:59, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
