The Underwood brand may be the most popular manual typewriter in the 20th century. My knowledge of them is second-hand, but I have heard mention of them only, when discussing manual typewriters. The list of notable authors who used Underwoods is likely extensive.

Depictions in media

• In the movie Moulin Rouge!, Ewan McGregor's character types out his play on an Underwood.
• In the movie Naked Lunch, Peter Weller's character uses an Underwood.
• In the television series House_of_Cards_(U.S._TV_series), Kevin Spacey's character Frank_Underwood_(House_of_Cards) uses an Underwood.
• In books [The Shadow of the Wind]] & The Angel's Game main writers are using Underwood's. In the first one this writer is Julian Fortuny-Carax, in the second - David Martin, main hero. Filet0 (talk) 17:40, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
