The U.S. Coast Guard, the successor agency, spells it "United States Life-Saving Service." We should keep that as the rticle and merge any additional material from here. - Dalbury 19:23, 29 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Appendices

When the appendices sections are collectively as large or larger than content in the body of an article it does not look natural or appealing. A solution is to trim excessive links.
  • See also: Eleven links
  • Further reading: Six links
  • External links: Nine links
The links under "Further reading" appear on-point and not unduly excessive. There are links in the "See also" section that might possibly be trimmed or incorporated into the article. Over-linking is covered in more than one place but certainly under "What Wikipedia is not" and there are guidelines for the WP:External links. Two or three might be acceptable and four is beginning to become over-linked, however, nine links become a cultivated link farm. Any excessive links that cannot be incorporated into the article needs to be trimmed. This generally becomes more important with a better class assessment. Otr500 (talk) 15:30, 9 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Name of article

I know it's grammatically correct to have hyphen in the title, but the actual name of this agency in the infobox logo has no hyphen. Neither is there a hyphen at The US Life Saving Service Heritage Association. How and why did a hyphen up here, and per WP:COMMONNAME, should not the title be this agency's actual given name? --Tenebrae (talk) 20:22, 3 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
