Possible problem

edit

I'm kinda new at editing Wikipedia pages, but I think there's a minor error in the section headed "screening." It mentions an ASVAB score of 220 as being required. The ASVAB only goes up to 99. I know of several military phyiscal tests, like the PFT (I don't know what the Navy calls their equivalent, that was the Army term). A 220 on the PFT would sound about right to try out for a Special Forces group. Can someone check the original reference to see if that's what it was supposed to say? The ASVAB can be scored as either a percentile score (up to 99) or by individual component sections. Each branch has slightly different sub component sections they use to measure aptitude. For example, both the Marine Corps and the Army use a General Technical scoring metric. Many highly technical MOS require minimum GT score of 110. The Navy, last checked, requires a combined component score from "Sum of Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension" (VE), "Mathematics Knowledge" (MK), "Mechanical Comprehension" (MC) and "Coding Speed" (CS) score of 220 for the SEAL program. The alternative is a General Science (GS), Mechanical Comprehension (MC) and Electronics Information (EI) score of 160.
This info might be outdated anyway because NSWC has really changed a lot of things in how it is they pick guys to begin the training pipeline. They have a whole new three tier test out for the community which, along with fitness scores and some intangibles, work into calculating what is essentially a "draft" number they use for eligibility for a seat in prep school. Hope this helps. TomPointTwo (talk) 21:16, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Problem with the pictures

edit

So there is a problem with the pictures at the "Phase 3: Land Warfare (7 weeks)" section.United_States_Navy_SEAL_selection_and_training#Phase_3:_Land_Warfare_.287_weeks.29 I'm not sure how to fix it, because from the HTML standpoint everything is fine. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ScienceBigotry (talkcontribs) 21:39, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Why are there no black people on the pictures? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.212.246.81 (talk) 09:15, 14 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Will there be an answer or is it just racism and wite man hate you show no african brothers serving for the Navy Seals? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.212.94.230 (talk) 05:34, 24 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

There is not as much African American navy seals and only 2% of navy seals in 2021 were African American. 2601:647:4481:9E10:42D8:C25B:2352:CDB4 (talk) 17:55, 29 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Psychological Testing?

edit

Do any of the extensive tests referred to here include psychological evaluations? Knowing what sort of personality characteristics they value would illuminate a lot about the SEAL experience. 76.146.217.22 (talk) 00:57, 1 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Are you asking if there are psych tests? 208.180.185.242 (talk) 19:07, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Math

edit
  • 3 Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) Training (24 weeks)
  • (2 weeks) + (7 weeks) + (7 weeks) + (7 weeks) = 23 weeks.
