Time line
editSEAL Team Six also provided security along with Delta Force for the convoy during Blackhawk Down (I cant remember the actual name of the battle).Gundam94 19:15, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, four DEVGRU members were on the convoy (Bowden, Black Hawk Down). They were awarded silver stars some months later. It seems they were about a dozen in Task Force Ranger, but I never found an exact number from a reliable source. Rob1bureau 20:01, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
7102/7103 ?
editShoudn't that be 7102? Correct me if I'm wrong, but what would being exempt from 7103 do?
Criticism about the merge
editSEAL team Six and Devgru are two totally and completely different things, whose different names represent different periods of operations, objectives and leadership. You made a mistake when you merged the two together. Hopefully it not too late to recover SEAL team Six previous page which discussed their Red Cell activities with Commander Richard Marcinko. Recover it if possible. Otherwise, welcome to stupidville Moderator-Geeks.
- I sum up : you agree that it is the same unit at "different periods of operations, objectives and leadership". So we will keep one page for this single unit. This was agreed when the merge of ST6 and DEVGRU pages was suggested. BTW, it's too late to reverse the merge. Welcome to stupidville anonymous insulting guys who believe they are right and all others are wrong and who are over a year too late to participate at the discuss about nerge or not merge. Do you think that we should do a page for the "Allen Dulles era CIA" and one for the "1990s era CIA" just because it is "two totally and completely different things" at "different periods of operations, objectives and leadership" ??? Not best regards for such an insulting guy. Rob1bureau 20:01, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
I think this article needs to be either merged with the other DEVGRU article, or deleted, as it serves no purpose, other than to confuse people (I think). 210.15.213.90 (talk) 04:28, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
Name of the article
editThe correct title is United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group. --88.73.211.254 11:50, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
- I agree, as said in the article it's Naval, not Navy. It should be renamed as either Naval Special Warfare Development Group or United States Navy Naval Special Warfare Development Group. I don't think that write "United States Navy" before is necessary, i.e. one says "1st SFOD-Delta", not "US Army 1st SFOD-Delta". Rob1bureau 20:09, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
76.114.126.155 02:48, 3 November 2007 (UTC)== DEVGRU or SEAL Team 6 KIA? ==
I've noticed that if one were to check the lists of those KIA in Afghanistan, David M. Tapper is apparently assigned to SEAL Team 6. See link: http://www.militarycity.com/valor/262922.html. Other websites apparently have noted that the Navy has refused to disclose his unit. See: http://www.arlingtoncemetery.net/dmtapper.htm The official Navy link is as follows: http://www.news.navy.mil/search/display.asp?story_id=9130 One could therefore certainly speculate that he is a DEVGRU operator. There are also other persons from units such as NAVSPECWAR Group 2. Im wondering if anyone knows what the official cover is for DEVGRU operators (as CAG is HQ Comp, US Army Special Operations Command) in order to get a rough count of DEVGRU KIAs in Afghanistan. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 148.85.206.80 (talk) 22:23, 26 March 2007 (UTC).

1980 Iran Hostage Rescue mission ?
editThe article mentions that six was formed in response to the iran doomed mission , what is that mean they already have Delta , would Devgru made any difference ?--Max Mayr 17:37, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
Are they Ghosts?
editIn the wikipedia article it is stated, the name "SEAL Team Six" is no longer in use, although most military servicemen and many civilians still recognize them as "SEAL Team Six." Well, someone forgot to tell them not to refer to themselves as Seal Team Six! I met a group of them last month, they were as big as any Pro Football team line. They said, "they were with Seal Team Six". I was not about to disagree with them! Check your sources. You're wrong on so many levels. The most glaringly obvious proof of your lie is the fact that about 95% of special operators are nowhere close to being "as big as any football team line." Nor do they go around telling any joe blow that they're in special operations. Try another lie. 74.142.88.126 (talk) 14:57, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
For the record, I'm in the Navy and work out at Dam Neck, the same base that the special warfare development group is at. All these guys do is test new tactics for combat. We see them doing work with specwar boats and stuff, and lot's of running and exercise. A good friend of mine know's someone on the inside and he says they are involved in lost of research and testing, but not actual combat ops. I've been at the base for over a year now and I've never seen anything that would lead me to believe they are this supposed elite combat unit. It's a myth as far as I'm concerned and I know other SEAL's who are at Little Creek.70.160.191.137 (talk) 17:11, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
DEVGRU has definitely been involved in combat operations. Yes DEVGRU is responsible for research and testing because they are a counter-terrorist unit like 1st SFOD-D who also does research and testing for their counter terrorist techniques. You could ask a SEAL about it but if he actually knows anything he wouldn't tell you.Outdawg (talk) 03:56, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
